Exercise Your Voting Power

2 13

It's common knowledge that an election is a formal process of choosing or selecting one suitable person from the list of candidates for that very specific position. As citizens, it's also our responsibility to exercise this power properly, minding the consequences and results of the possible actions of the people we choose to serve our country and its people. So for those who already have experience with voting and elections, we should remember and remind others that it's important to exercise our voting power when time permits.

Why would you vote?

Here are some reasons why you should exercise your voting power and why every vote matters.

  1. It is your right - It's your means of expressing yourself on how you want to be governed. Naturally, a statement coming from ordinary individuals would be rejected if it's against or it does not side with the ideals of the leader in position. So when election comes, consider it as one of those times where you could express your political side and statement by choosing who you think is the most suitable person to lead you and your fellow countrymen.

  2. It is your responsibility - When you vote or don't vote, you are still partly responsible of how the future will be handled by the chosen leaders. You either use your vote to elect a wise and kind leader or ignore the election and let the corrupt and evil win.

  3. It is a privilege - We define privilege as something exclusive and only enjoyed or experience by a some people, and not all. It's the same with voting and elections. Some countries lead their people in a dictatorial way, leaving no choice for those people who are oppressed and for those aren't satisfied with their public service. Voting is in itself an exercise of freedom.

Some people just ignore voting and elections, considering it as a bothersome act which leads to no change aside from the names of those in power, because some politicians really just pass their positions to their respective family members once their term ends. But as an intelligent individual and member of society, we should exercise our voting powers the moment we get the chance to do it.

Let us remind also ourselves that whoever is elected on the position will be in charge of how they will cultivate the future of our state and country. Your vote may not directly elect the president or any person for a specific position, but if your vote joins enough others in your voting district or country, your vote undoubtedly matters when it comes to electoral results. Though we can't guarantee that who we vote would actually win, at the very least, we were able to express and exercise our freedom and we can proudly say that we didn't sit idly and waited for a miracle to happen or a meteor to fall down and let random corrupt people take over an important seat.

Lastly, vote wisely!
