It's been awhile since we heard new albums from major recording artists. As we know, physical albums are now declining except vinyls, which is still selling good. Downloads and streaming platforms has taken over music industry but sales and streams are already counted to equivalent sales in major countries.

This last quarter, there are new upcoming albums already set to be released, including very recent releases. For music fans, here are some of those albums.

Coldplay - Music of the Spheres

Coldplay just released their new album this week with "Music of the Spheres". According to predictions, it will be this week's number 1 album in UK. Coldplay's all studio albums went to number 1, and seven of them has gone platinum while six has sold more than 1 million in the country. The band's previous album "Everyday Life" didn't receive the kind of promotions their 7 albums has enjoyed. Thus it was their poorest selling album.

"Music of the Spheres" may be a comeback to huge sales for the band though its lead single "Higher Power" only peaked at number 12 on UK Singles Charts, and outside the top 50 of Billboard Hot 100. Thanks to BTS with their collaboration "My Universe" because it peaked at number 3 in UK, and even number 1 in Billboard singles chart. For sure "Music of the Spheres" may become another hit album for Coldplay.

Ed Sheeran - = (Equals)

Ed Sheeran is really back! Last December 2020, he gave us the ballad "Afterglow" but it's not the lead single for a new album. Last June, he released "Bad Habits" which is the official lead single for his new album which was entitled "=". Another mathematical title for an album after "+", "x", and "÷". All those three albums had went 8x, 12x, and 12x platinums respectively in UK. It shows Ed Sheeran is one of the UK's top artists during the decade. His last record was the collaboration album "No.6 Collaborations Project" which was double platinum in UK.

"Bad Habits" already became a number 1 hit in several countries worldwide, while it peaked at number 2 in Billboard Hot 100. A new single, "Shivers", was released and it became the second UK number 1 single in UK, and a number 10 hit in the US already. The promotional single "Visiting Hours" also became a number 5 hit in UK. It shows the album is another potential hit record for Ed Sheeran. "=" will be released on October 29.

ABBA - Voyage

After 40 years, ABBA will be releasing a reunion studio album. Some may think it will not bring back the band's popularity but it seems it will become another hit. Pre-orders of the album in UK shows it will become a big seller. Two lead singles are already released. "I Still Have Faith in You" is the first one, and already peaked at number 14, and "Don't Shut Me Down" at number 9 in UK. Songs may not be the factor here because the album might carry the whole record comeback.

"Voyage" will be released on November 5.

Taylor Swift - Red (Taylor's Version)

Taylor Swift has released the re-recorded version of "Fearless" album which reached number in Billboard 200 last January. Since 2019, Taylor has reached number 1 four times. In 2019 with "Lover", "Folklore" and "Evermore" in 2020, and "Fearless (Taylor's Version)" in 2021.

Taylor had number 1 albums prior 2019 with "Fearless", "Speak Now", "Red", "1989", and "Reputation". In total, Taylor had a total of nine number 1 albums. "Red (Taylor's Version)" is likely to become her 10th number 1 considering her fans will push it to the top spot. "Red (Taylor's Version)" will he released on November 12.

Adele - 30

Adele just released her new single "Easy on Me" which is expected to hit big. It is the lead single of her upcoming album "30". Easy on Me" already debuted big in music charts despite being released in less than a week.

Adele has previously scored hit albums. Her first album "19" was 3x platinum in the US and 8x platinum in UK. It was followed by "21" which has estimated sales of 31-35 million copies worldwide, while "25" has sold around 23 million. "30" is expected to become a hit, and will be released on November 19.
