Introducing uBitcoin - Bitcoin Cash wallet for Ubuntu Touch
About 2 years ago I decided to change the OS of my phone. I had a 4 year old Motorola Moto G and it was time to replace it. I looked at the Android alternatives and choose Ubuntu Touch because it was the most advanced open source competitor.
What is Ubuntu Touch?
From ubuntu-touch.io:
Ubuntu Touch is a mobile version of the Ubuntu operating system for mobile devices. However, unlike other 'flavors' of Ubuntu, it is more accurately an extract of parts of Ubuntu. It is adapted to run naturally in a mobile, touch-screen environment but is also capable of functioning as a desktop computer while in "desktop mode". This aforementioned converging of environments from device to device is where the term "Convergence" originates.
It is not a very popular OS and there are a lot of apps that are missing but it is a great alternative if you don't like Google and Apple.
uBitcoin
uBitcoin is written in QML and Python using bitcash (a lightweight library maintained by @merc1er). It is fully open-sourced and it is hosted on Github. The wallet has limited functionality (for now) but it is great for spending outdoors at your favorite shops and restaurants.
So if you want to move away from the big corporations or just want to try something new, install Ubuntu Touch on your device (if it is supported) and spend your BCH using uBitcoin.

Great to see the non-android, non-ios platforms finally getting wallets.
I've been pondering to drop android for a long time, but one of the usecases for having a smartphone to begin with is to pay with cryptocurrencies, and that has really shut down the discussion of alternatives for me.
Keep us updated as this matures, would love to try it out at some point when it has matured.
