The stork manages to escape incredibly after a hungry leopard jumps to catch her.
This impressive moment was captured by photographer Paul Rifkin while on a safari tour with other guests in the Serengeti region of Tanzania.
Paul Rifkin recounted, "I focused the stork and locked the light on the stork, waiting for the stork's first swing and firing the camera."
The group was coming out slowly and there wasn’t much action. As Lauren O'Dea remembers, who also witnessed this exciting scene and filmed it all:
"And then we were lucky to see a leopard in the grass, and just a few feet away the stork was watching its affairs. I wasn't sure how long the leopard would need an attack, and as the stork moved through the grass I lost sight of it. I turned it on quickly. Camera , I noticed the stork again and started filming it, and then it all happened. "
The insidious leopard emerged from the grass where it was hiding and jumped high into the air trying to reach the stork as the bird quickly fluttered its wings to fly away. Not reaching his prey by only a few millimeters, the leopard fell into the grass and retreated back to the tree, feeling defeated.
