You look at me and all you can see is what’s different about me.
I know I don’t fit into your definition of normal and I’ve long since accepted who I am and I love every imperfection and challenge that is part of my life.
When you see my challenges and what makes me unique, you stop seeing me as the person that I am..
And begin to view me for all the things that set me apart.
You forget that I have feelings, emotions and thoughts like everyone else.
That’s okay, though.
I’m always going to shine brightly, because that’s what I’ve decided I want to do.
I’ll never accept anyone’s limitations of who they think I am and I’ll always shine from within because I can do anything if I decide to.
Don’t tell me what I can’t do, because I’ve been climbing mountains since the very beginning.
I don’t know how to quit and I’ll never forget who I am and what I’m capable of.
I didn’t get to choose who I am and the things that set me apart, but I do choose how to live my life.
So, please stop trying to label me to fit into what you think I should be and just accept me as I am.
I don’t seek anything that you wouldn’t want for yourself.
Respect, courtesy and kindness..and I’ll give much more than that in return.
I’m genuine, I’m real and yes, I’m special- but in a beautiful way that I love about myself.
I’m not saying my life is easy or doesn’t have challenges, but only that you take my hand and walk with me and appreciate who I am.
Maybe you don’t understand my past or the road that I’ve traveled to get where I am, but you can love me for my flaws and treat me with kindness.
Rise or fall, rain or shine, I’m always going to remain true to who I am..
I may not always be everyone’s favorite flavor, but they’ll always know what they’re getting when they meet me.
I love who I am and where I’m going, but the question I have is this-
Can you accept and love me for me..
Just as I am?
