A BLDC motor (which is also referred to as a brushless direct current motor), is a synchronous motor that is driven by a direct current that governs every phase of the motor via a controller. The controller sends pulses that allow for the output speed to be adjusted.

Brushed and brushless motors both employ stators and rotors. A stator is wound with wire, and the rotor features a set of permanent magnets. Brushless motors can rotate at rates of up to 50,000 revolutions per minute and provide up to 3.7 kW of power. This is even faster than that of an equivalent gasoline-powered engine.
