Itakhola Mura is a 7th or 8th century Buddhist monastery at Kotbari, about 9 km from Comilla Sadar Upazila. Located on the opposite side of the Rupban Mura, about 40 feet above the plains, the archeological site has three levels. The place has been known as Itakhola Mura since ancient times due to brick burning.

Archaeological excavations at Itakhola Mura have resulted in the discovery of a Buddhist monastery and a Buddhist stupa. Recovering all the archeological sites of this place has become quite complicated as more than 5 cultural eras have passed. The vast mound complex in the discovered space is the main attraction of Itakhola Mura. Located on a base of about 13.1 square meters, the front of the mound has a small pedestal 2.4 meters long and 2.1 meters wide in the center.

The main temple in this monastery can be seen in the middle of a rectangular field ascending through the entrance of Itakhola Mura. The main deity of this temple is the meditative Buddha Akshovya. There is a headless Buddhist statue built during the 3rd construction period. Among the specimens obtained from Itakhola Mura are gold weighing about 18 tolas, gold balls kept in earthen pots, silver coins, copperplate, earthen plaques, busts of Dhyani Buddha statues, metallic meditative inexhaustible, metallic meditative altavara, fruit pottery, Ganesha idols , Oil lamps, etc. are notable.
