A Recollection of Memories

Like any other Sunday, it was again a special day for us.

Our storage room is under construction that's why it's messy outside our house since all the things from the room are outside. Earlier, the construction continuous, they just have to tiled the floor then it's all done. So, us, as a family, cleaned our things so that it is already clean as we put it back to the storage room.

It was really a lot of things to clean. We also throw, sell and give other things that we think won't be useful for us anymore to generate more space at the storage.

What happened today was, I woke up at 8 am, eat breakfast, we had our online worship service at 8:30 am - 9:30 am, then at 10 am, we started our general cleaning.

We spend the whole morning cleaning and having conversation with each other. We had grilled tilapia at lunch and ate cooked spaghetti and lumpiang shanghai for our afternoon snacks.

All in all, it was a nice day. Our kind of finding rest and break despite doing some physical things.

So that is how our day went, but the main focus here is the sudden reminiscing of memories while we were cleaning.

Those things from the storage room are quite useful for us back then. It includes our materials for flower and event arrangements, huge ice coolers and many kitchen wares like those that you can see in catering services.

EVENTS AND FLOWER ARRANGEMENTS

As we were cleaning, we saw our stuffs like those big vases, trellis, covers for flower arrangements like abaca, floral wires, floral tape, cutter, slicer, and those big piece of fabrics where you can make skirting.

We have those things because before the pandemic, it's actually one of our sidelines to generate more income to accept flower arrangements for weddings, debut and even school events.

My brother in law was a florist, he works at Dangwa Flower Market before for a couple of years, also my sister, actually, that's where they met each other. Back to the topic, both of them have backgrounds on this stuffs and through word of mouth of our friends and relatives, there are instances where they are recommending us for arrangements.

Not only on events, we're also always taking the opportunity to earn some extra money through selling flowers during Valentines Day and All Saints Day.

Before Valentines day, my brother will then go to Dangwa to buy flowers. Since we're not that near in Manila, he also asks those flower shops around our City if they want him to buy them flowers, and in return, they'll contribute on our gas and toll fee and that lessens our expenses.

During night of February 13, that's when he will go to Dangwa and very early in the morning at February 14, he's already home. We will then proceed to our store where we are going to display the flowers. We will unload them at the van, took off its covers to let it breathe, then put them at pails with water to keep its freshness.

Just a little rest and then Kuya, with our other guys will start making flower arrangements so that we can have something for display that buyers can see if ever that they will come to our shop.

Above our samples of flower arrangements that we used to sell. And I forgot to mention that even before Valentines, we are already collecting pre-orders for the flowers. In that way, we can determine on how many flowers we are going to buy.

Same thing happen during All Saints Day. Brother will go to Manila, buy flowers, went home, start arrangements. Pre-orders are also present.

I just remembered our days making these flower arrangements as we clean our stuffs for making all these.

From what I remember, both days are days where we became really sleep deprived. There's a time when we are awake for more than 24 hours. Tiring, yes. But we are enjoying.

And the most fun part is when brother will spare us some flowers and let us make our own flower arrangements. And if we were able to sell what we made, then the money is ours.

It was really fun reminiscing those days. Sadly, we weren't able to do this last All Saints Day and Valentines Day due to Covid19.

ICE COOLERS AND KITCHEN WARES

Another thing that were dominating the space of our storage room is this one. As I have mentioned before, they have their business. We are into direct selling. They have some branches of their stores and we have many dealers also. They keep the business alive so in appreciation of them, yearly, we are organizing a Christmas party for them where we prepare program and gifts to all of them as our way of thanking them.

So we have those stuffs like ice coolers and kitchen wares that we use as storage for the foods that we provide during Christmas Parties. We have our own things and it is really useful on events like that. Through that, we won't be needing to rent for things and it saves us a huge sum.

Now I remember all those Christmas Parties. It's a part of our busy days but it's all worth it as long as we see the smiles of our dealers.

Sadly, we weren't able to organize a Christmas Party last year since mass gathering is prohibited. Before, when ber months came, we are already preparing. That is when we start wrapping gifts for our dealers. We have to prepare early because we can only do that on our free time and we have to wrap at least 300 gifts so that can really consume a lot of time.

For the event, we are renting a school gym so that all of our attendees will fit. Program proper usually takes place at 1 pm. Wherein aside from giving gifts to each one of them, we prepared awards for top dealers, games, intermission numbers and raffles. Representatives from our partner direct selling companies are also coming and they have separate gifts, awards and games that they have prepared to give entertainment to our valued dealers.

That was such a huge event that we look forward to yearly and it was really nice having time to remember those times.

We still got a lot of other things from our storage room but the things I have mentioned are the things where I got a lot of memories the most. I just can't help it but remember those good old times as we were cleaning our things.
