Experts in military prowess, such as technological advancement, huge military budgets, sophisticated weapons, or successful operations in any environment around the world, will be forced to acknowledge the superiority of the US military. After winning two world wars, the US military made a proud presence in various parts of the world during the Cold War. Competing with the former Soviet Union, the United States has advanced rapidly in military strategy or technology, making itself militarily unique. So after the collapse of the Soviet Union, no one was able to compete with the Americans on an equal footing. America has strengthened its position in front of the world as a single superpower.

Anyone who acknowledges the superiority of the U.S. military;

There are numerous units in the U.S. military that conduct operations that combine technology and expertise to conduct extraordinary operations around the world. However, as many operational units as there are in the whole force, the capacity of all the units is not the same. The most powerful units in the US military are classified as 'Tier-1' Special Mission Units. A total of four units, including the Air Force, Army and Navy, have been placed in this category. These units have proven themselves over the years to ensure 100% success in the most risky operations. The U.S. government allocates more to the budget behind these units than other units.

SEAL Team 6 is an operational unit in the US military's Tier-1. This operational unit has the capability to conduct all adventurous operations against the enemy anywhere in the world, in any environment. The term SEAL refers to a soldier or an entire unit capable of conducting military operations on water, land and air (SEA, Air and Land). Although the US Navy's Seal Operational Unit is a military unit, its members can still attack the enemy from the air or on the ground and from all sides.

About 3,000 US Marines died in the Battle of Tarawa in November 1943, during World War II. The U.S. government has since thought of an effective unit that would be able to carry out intelligence operations and prepare for any attack. This will reduce the rate of casualties in any military operation and increase the chances of success of the mission. As an implementation of such thinking, the Underwater Demolition Team (UDT) was established as an effective unit of the US Navy. This team is considered to be the predecessor of Seal Team Six.

When war broke out between the two Koreas in 1950, US troops sided with South Korea. Although the underwater demolition team became largely ineffective after World War II, the U.S. military relied on them during the Korean War. But the outcome of the Korean War disappointed Americans. Meanwhile, the Vietnam War also began to take shape. In 1962, under the direction of US President John F. Kennedy, two SEAL teams were formed for the first time in the history of the US military with members of the underwater demolition team. In the Vietnam War, a total of eight platoon U.S. SEAL members were cycled to the battlefield for South Vietnam. The U.S. military has not been able to take advantage of North Vietnam's guerrilla warfare. Between 1965-72, about 50 members of the SEALs were killed by Viet Cong. This was not a major setback, in contrast to the continued failure of the entire US military.

The first SEAL team in U.S. history;

When 52 American citizens were taken hostage by Iranian students in Tehran, Iran, in 1980, the US military conducted Operation Eagle Claw, which ended in failure. This failure of the American military at the time of the Cold War played a major role in tarnishing the image of the United States around the world. Learning from this incident, the US government started thinking of forming a vicious unit, which would be able to conduct rapid operations to deal with any global terrorist activity or crisis. US Navy SEAL Commander Richard Marcinco was tasked with building such a unit within six months.

Richard Masinko, who joined the US Navy in 1958, was an experienced naval commander. He showed great skills as a SEAL commander in the Vietnam War. In recognition of his heroism, the US government awarded him several medals. In early 1981, the 75-member SEAL Team Six was formed by Commander Richard Marsinko, the most formidable operational unit in the US military.

There is also an interesting history behind naming ‘Seal Team Six’. When Seal Team Six debuted in 1981, there were already two SEAL teams in the US Navy. In those turbulent times during the Cold War, Soviet intelligence officers were scrambling to obtain secret US military files. It is worth mentioning that the decision to form Seal Team Six was taken in secret. No one knew about the unit except a few high-ranking U.S. military officials and a few people in the administration. To the chagrin of Soviet intelligence officers, Commander Richard Marsinko named the unit Seal Team Six, so that the Soviets would not know the actual number of operational seal teams in the US military.
