Monday

It is called lunar day. In fact, it has changed from Moon's day to this form. According to Greek mythology, Celine was the goddess of the moon. In Roman, this moon is called Moon which has changed slightly to English as Monday.

Tuesday

In Greek mythology, Aris and Athena were both gods and goddesses of war. Aris was the eldest child of the god Zeus and the goddess Hera, a symbol of war and destruction. Mars in the sky is named after Aris, and the name of this planet is followed by the name of Tuesday in Greek. A similar deity in Roman is Mars. However, according to the Saxon religion, the god similar to Mars, meaning the god of war and destruction, is ‘Tu’, hence the English Tuesday.

Wednesday

According to Roman mythology, Mercury is the god of commerce in English, but the name of the day is not Mercury Day, but Wednesday, which comes from the name of the German-influenced special goddess Woden. The day allotted for this Oden goddess is called Woden’s Day or Wednesday.

Thursday

Thursday means Thor’s day. According to Anglo-Saxon beliefs, Thor is the god of thunder. So, a day was named after him, Thursday. Zeus is the Greek god of lightning.

Friday

To the Anglo-Saxons, the goddess of beauty was Frig, hence the origin of the English name Friday.

Saturday

Saturn’s Day. The Roman god Saturn. A similar deity in Greek is Cronus. No synonyms for this name were found in the Anglo-Saxon language. The name Saturday in English is taken directly from the Romans. Cronus kills Uranus, the youngest Titan of the first generation, and seizes the kingdom.

He then devours all his children one by one to defend his position, except for Zeus. When the Romans occupied Greece, they changed the name of Cronus to Saturn. Naming Saturn from Saturn and Saturn Day or Saturday. The killing of fathers and their own children and much more bloodshed may have brought bad or negative ideas with Saturn's name.

It is to be noted that the naming of seven days of the week has been strictly followed in India in keeping with the name of the deity. Ancient Hindu astrologers named each day of the week after the gods and the planets. It is thought to have been named during the Gupta period from the third to the fifth centuries.
