Nan Madal is one of the oldest cities in the world. But this ancient city is a bit different than all the other ancient cities. The city is floating on a coral wall in the Pacific Ocean. So the city is also known as ‘Venice of the Pacific’ or ‘Venice of Micronesia’. The ancestors of the Micronesians also called it the 'coral of heaven'.

At the western tip of the Pacific Ocean, more than a thousand islands have formed into a huge archipelago called Microsia. To the east of the island of Pompeii in the Micronesian archipelago, a mysterious island, Nan Madal, proves its existence.

The location of Nan Madal on the map;

The name Nan Madal means the middle place. There are so many canals connected to this place that it seems as if one canal is playing with another. That is why many researchers believe that the island is named Nan Madal. The islands are about a mile long and half a mile wide. Nan Madal, located in the Lagoon, is surrounded by about a hundred small and large islands. Again these islands are connected to each other through several canals.

Nan Madal is a mysterious island surrounded by the sea and standing in the middle;

But the whole city is several times bigger than the Great Wall of China or the Pyramids of Egypt. The city is surrounded by a stone wall one and a half kilometers long and half a kilometer wide. These stones have made the city mysterious. Each stone in the town of Nan Madal weighs about fifty tons, while one stone in the pyramid weighs about three tons. Several aesthetic works of art made of stone in the city still overwhelm tourists. How these wonderful stones were created is still shrouded in mystery. The island is surrounded by the sea. So such a rocky city in the sea is quite unimaginable and unimaginable.

The town of Nan Madal is surrounded by a stone wall;

There are no mines near the island, suggesting that the rocks came from mines. So some people say that these wonderful rocks may be floating in the water. But how such large and heavy rocks can float in the water is also not credible. The locals believe that someone brought the stones here under the influence of some miraculous power or black magic, otherwise it is the work of a human predecessor.

A huge stone pillar makes the island even more mysterious. It looks like a giant guarding the city. This stone pillar is placed at a height of 16 meters on the island. Archaeologists believe that this remarkable construction work was the result of hundreds of years of relentless efforts by thousands of workers.

Each stone used in various installations in the town of Nan Madal weighed about fifty tons;

There is also a deep mystery as to how these huge rocks were able to reach such a high point on the island. Some of the stones are about 25 feet high and 17 feet wide. It is thought that this heavy stone was transported from one end of the island to the other with the help of tree trunks.

Many experts believe that Nan Madle once housed thousands of people. But many disagree. According to them, more people have never been here. There may be a large number of people. They also left this place later. During this time they settled on the surrounding small islands. Some islands were used for crop production or for burying dead people. The royal cemetery was surrounded by a 26-foot-high stone wall in the middle of the island.

Researchers also have differing views on how the island became depopulated. However, the lack of clean drinking water and food is believed to be the main reason for the residents to leave the island.

Where and how Karai or these stones were brought to Nan Madal is still a mystery;

But how people survived isolated in the ocean or here for a while is a bigger mystery. Some time ago archaeologists found some bones. But these bones are much larger than the local Micronesians here. Therefore, researchers do not agree that these bones belong to the ancient inhabitants of Nan Madal.

It is traditionally believed that the people who built the city of ‘Leluh’ later built the city of Nan Madal. But the idea is not true. Because, later found out through carbon test, Nana Madal is much older than the city of Leluh.

However, some say that the lost continent of folklore, Mu, was here. The natural disaster that was lost from the map of the world. However, experts have not been able to prove whether Nan Madalai is Mu or not. However, many archaeologists refer to the city as Atlantis.

This stone wall is 26 feet high from the island;

Many researchers believe that the island was created as the home of the Saudelu dynasty. The Saudelu royal family controlled the political and economic activities of the city. At first it was thought that various modals were made around 1200 AD. Later radiocarbon tests revealed that the city was born around 200 BC.

There are many stories and legends surrounding Nan Madal. The various stone patterns of the city have given birth to various legends. Authors such as David Hutcher Childress and Erich von Daniken have also been inspired to write impeccable literature. Erich von Daniken, in his fictional ‘Evidence of the Gods’, reported that platinum was found on the island of Nan Madle.

Nan Madal, a witness to a ruined city with no people and rich history;

Nan Madal is now a ruined city. Examination of the city's ruins shows that it is about 900 years old. The ruined city is surrounded by the ruins of numerous temples, ancient tombs and baths, where water was stored.

There are similarities between the various stone installations and the worship centers built by the Maya and the Aztecs. The center of worship is built quite high above the island, which is quite surprising. It is believed that religious rites were performed from the high stone altar in the middle of the shrine. The people of Nan Madal at that time used to pay their immense devotion and respect to the god Nanishan Shahpoor for a good harvest. There is evidence that the holy water used for religious ceremonies was also prepared at this place.

The worship center of Nan Madal and the residence of the kings are believed to have been abandoned in the late nineteenth century. The city became desolate in the fifteenth century and was completely abandoned in the nineteenth century. In 1985, the United States Government declared Nan Madal a national historic site. And UNESCO has declared Nan Madal as a part of the world heritage. Tourists come all year round to see the historic Nan Madal.
