Visit to Litchi Garden and Nayabad Jame Mosque

On the way, I saw the Nayabad Jame Mosque standing proudly as a witness of tomorrow through the empty litchi garden. Locally, this mosque is also known as Bichitra Mosque. The plaque on the main entrance of the mosque shows that the mosque was built on an area of 1.15 bighas by Emperor Shah Alam II.

During the reign, the 2nd Jaistha was built in 1200 BS, i.e. in 1793, 41 years after the construction of the Kantjiu Temple.

Nayabad Jame Mosque;

It is said that the builders of this temple and mosque are the same. More commonly, most of the builders of this temple were Muslims from Persia. And after living in this village for a long time, they built this mosque for themselves.

The three-domed mosque has four octagonal minarets at the four corners. The exterior of the mosque measures 12.45 meters in length and 5.5 meters in width. And the width of the wall is 1.10 meters. The mosque has three semi-circular domes. The dome in the middle of the three domes is relatively larger than the two domes on the side. Pendants have been used to diversify the dome. The walls and cornices are parallel.

The main entrance to the mosque;

The three arched doors on the east side are mainly used to enter the mosque. The middle of the three arches is larger than the two on the sides. The middle arch is 1.95 m high and 1.15 m wide. Although the two side arches are equal in height, the two arches are relatively smaller in width than the middle arch. These entrances are built with many notched techniques.

Inside the mosque there are three arches along the arch on the west side. Like the arches, the arch in the middle of these arches is relatively larger than the two arches on the side. The arch is 2.30 m high and 1.08 m wide. The side arch is relatively smaller than the middle arch like the two arches. The inside of the mosque also has two notched windows on the north and south sides.

The octagonal minarets at the four corners of the mosque have domes on two of them and the other two have small round domes, but slightly different. The two Kuplas can be seen a lot, but the two domes are mostly destroyed. The minarets are made of bricks and plaster. The use of umbrellas for lighting in the upper part of the dome can also be noticed.

Thus the Nayabad Jame Mosque stands as a witness of tomorrow;

The beautiful terracotta work on the walls of the mosque fascinates. Most of the terracotta was destroyed due to lack of repairs. However, madrasas have already been built along the boundary walls of the mosque, seating arrangements for visitors, ablutions and toilets have also been constructed. The mosque will be renovated soon.

We have lost sight of the present time by coming to the ancient patterns. I came back to Tebhaga Chattar in Rubel Bhai's car from the mosque premises. From there I got on the bus and left for Battali. From there again by auto to Dinajpur Rajbari. When I came to Dinajpur in 2010, there was a big difference between the then Rajbari and the present Rajbari, because then there were many things that have now been completely destroyed only due to lack of reforms. However, this palace, which is equivalent to the Kantjiu temple, is also rich in tradition.

Dinajpur Rajbari tour

Dinajpur has been ruled by 12 kings for more than four hundred years, who have been called maharajas or maharajas, as it is believed that these kings were descendants of the zamindar king Ganesha. They are Raja Shukdev Roy, Raja Ram Dev Roy, Raja Joy Dev Roy, Raja Pran Nath Roy, Maharaja Ramnath Roy, Krishna Nath Roy, Vaidya Nath Roy, Maharaja Radhanath Roy, Maharaja Gobind Nath Roy, Tarak Nath Roy, Maharaja Girija Nath Roy Bahadur and the last Maharaja Jagadish Nath Roy.

When the zamindari system was abolished after the partition of the country, this palace became unprotected. The house was later reduced to rubble due to lack of protection and renovation after the used items of the palace were sold at auction by government order. At present it is nothing but a ruin of the zamindari masterpiece of the palace.

At present this building in Dinajpur Rajbari is still preserved, all the rest have been destroyed;

As this palace was built during the reigns of different kings at different times, different types of Hindu, Muslim and Mughal architectural styles can be seen in this palace. However, the buildings of the main palace were divided into three separate rooms. These are Aina Mahal, Rani Mahal and Thakurbari Mahal. Also, many traditions of this palace including Kumar Mahal, Anturghar, Laxmighar, Atchala Ghar, Kalia Jiu Mandir, Rani Pukur, Champa Talar Dighi and Bhootnath are either lost or are on the verge of being lost.

The scenic entrance to the Kalia Jiu Temple;

At present, except for the Kalia Jiu Temple and the Durga Temple, the entire palace has been reduced to rubble. However, there is no way not to be fascinated by the beauty of Kalia Jiu Temple. Because every inch of this temple is a manifestation of beauty. Ainamahal is a two-storey building, which is now completely destroyed. The entrance of Kalia temple is also worth seeing.

Since I had already visited, we went out without much delay, because the winter time is short. We will miss our bus if we don't leave for Thakurgaon within five o'clock. So Ramsagar Dighi had to be omitted. I got out and sent everyone in the group in front of the Dinajpur Eidgah ground in an auto.

The palace is thus being destroyed by carelessness and neglect;

These buildings stand in the midst of the ruins, expressing their heroism;

And I reminisced a bit on the back of my friend's bike, because in 2010 I was all over Dinajpur except for the Kantjiu temple. We entered the famous Rustam Hotel in Dinajpur after seeing a few more scattered places including Sukhsagar.

After eating, I sat in the police cafe for a while, then went to the pleasure boat. The pleasure boat is a small recreation spot on the banks of the river Punarbhava. The main attraction of the pleasure boat is the fresh air along the river bank, the beauty of nature and the temporary release from the civil litter.

When some more friends got together, we lost our time and started chatting. Seeing the intensity of daylight decrease, we are forced to get up. And I said goodbye to everyone in Dinajpur and came back to Thakurgaon. After freshening up, I packed my bags and left for the counter for the journey to Dhaka.
