"We have La Ter La Mar (land and sea) in hand, which helps our professional chefs create new and delicious food."

The quote is from Yannick Hood. He owns St. Jean's, a well-known wine shop in Saint-Malo, France, and is a partner in the local culinary school L'Ecole du Gout. And what he is talking about here is associated with a unique but strange tradition in St. Malo, a city in France. The name of this new festival is I. Emerson, with the contribution of Hood and his friends behind the start. Their small arrangement became popular with the world, mainly wine lovers. Now the question is, how does this festival start? What is done these days? What is the reason behind calling it strange? Today's article will answer these questions.

The story of the beginning of I'merson is not very old, it happened only 15 years ago. Before we get into that, we need to know a little bit about St. Malo, where this particular tradition is found.

Saint Malo

Saint Malo is a traditional French port located at the confluence of the Rhine River and the English Channel in the French cultural region of Brittany. The walled city has a thrilling history of piracy, extortion and foreign expeditions. One of the main reasons why St. Malo is so attractive to tourists is that it has the highest tides in Europe.

St. Malo;

Medieval forts made of granite and salty roads have ebbs and flows. However, the local community of St. Malo, ‘Maloin’, does not look down on such extreme waterfalls, but accepts this natural law as a relationship of the soul. They are born with this ebb and flow.

Located on the north coast of Britain, the port was occupied by the French in the 1st century BC. Since water is always in and out of the ocean, its rising tides are also a little higher.

Malone race

The main ethnic group living in the port of St. Malo is Maloin. Once upon a time they used to go as far as Quebec and the Falkland Islands to do business or look for jobs. In 1590, this community of St. Malo fought for liberation from France, which is part of The Wars of Religion. Their main objective was to protect their coastal economy from the French. The motto of the Malvinas was - "Not French, not Britain, we are Malvinas". However, despite all this, they could not maintain their sovereignty for long. In just three years, the autonomous Republic of St. Malo lost its independence to France.

But the Maloins have an exceptional tradition and endless courage, which is deeply rooted in the features of the sea. St. Malo is well known in the world for these issues.

Another noteworthy fact is that St. Malo is so well known for its wine production techniques and coastal traditions that some literature has been written about it. The city and its environs began to gain prominence, when the French started trading in pepper here and St. Malo was declared the main port of this trade. And it has other history and seafaring issues.

St. Malo is now a popular tourist destination for tourists, with ferry terminals at Portsmouth, Weymouth and Poole. Tourists from different countries, especially the English, come here in the summer sun.

Portsmouth;

French and Britons come here to enjoy the mild summer air. "When I'm in St. Malo, I can feel the sea, even if I can't see it," said Hood, a wine merchant, as a resident of St. Malo. He added, “I know he (the sea) is here or somewhere nearby. If I'm away, he's away too. ”

I'merson

I'merson was first held 15 years ago today. In fact the service is not a festival, but is just for entertainment among a few friends. I'm talking about Yannick Hood, a well-known wine merchant in St. Malo, and his friends. Hood goes with his friends to spend time in the bosom of the sea, their best place. “We have a fisherman, a sailor, a restaurant owner and I am a wine merchant myself. The child of a friend of mine was born at that time. She wants to keep a few bottles of wine under the sea to celebrate the birth of her child. ” Hood agreed to his suggestion and took the necessary action. To him this job seems quite fun and new.

According to him, those who are more attracted to wine, that is, ‘enophile’, usually store bottles of wine to express their happiness when they receive good news.

Bottles of wine are being kept under the sea;

However, such work has not been seen under the sea before. For the first time, the festival was held on a small scale. It starts with just 12 bottles of Vendins wine from the Lyo Valley at the port of St. Malo. Yes! That's the I-Emerson. At present it has gained national recognition. Wine-loving foreigners often come to participate in this festival. Their small event took place 15 years ago on the first weekly holiday of June, i.e. June 10. So still every year only the first weekly holiday of the month of June is celebrated as I’merson.

Hood began going to sea every year to keep a bottle of wine. And he brought out the bottles left last year. He and his friends started drinking that old wine together. They think that the taste of the wine has changed a bit due to being kept in the sea and this new taste is not bad. However, they could not catch the reason at first. It is possible to give a scientific argument in favor of what they thought was a mere reform of drinking wine. The sea temperature on the coast of Brittany is 9-10 degrees Celsius, which is like the appropriate temperature for making wine and the special technique of making tidal wine at sea every day. Due to this, wine is processed under the sea. This type of wine is also used in various dishes.

Hood and his friends;

Hood understood this and continued to work with more interest. Every year about 100 wine merchants and fans buy tickets to celebrate the festival. At the beginning of the day, tourists saw Hood and his team loading about 800 bottles of wine from the tour solids into the fishing boat. This tour solider is a 14th century tower that is the main entrance to the Rh নদne River. The bottles are kept in terry boxes for straw-filled shellfish. The boxes have some holes so that sea water and seaweed can come and go. Tourists get a chance to drink old wine left over from last year. They then spent some time in an uninhabited coastal area of St. Malo.

Little did Hood and his friends ever think that a small event would be so well-known. But there is no doubt that it has made St. Malo popular in the world.
