Geographical location of Lure Cavern

Lure Cavern is also referred to by many as Lure Cave. The cave is located in the Cenandoha Valley, west of the city of Lure in the state of Virginia in the United States. This huge cave was discovered in 1878 AD. It was later opened to the public commercially. Lure Cavern is one of the most scenic spots in the United States.

The entrance to Lure Cavern;

The length of this mysterious cave is 2.4 km. It takes 45 minutes to an hour to turn around. Inside the cave are all the impossibly beautiful patterns. Fascinating illumination is associated with natural beauty. The Lure Caves are located in the valley of the Cinandoa River in the Blue Biz class of Virginia State. The Lure Cavern is much older than the Rocky, Sierra Nevada, the Alps, the Andes and the Himalayas. Nature has created this amazing beauty of caves sitting behind the eyes of people for eternity.

The way Lure Cavern was discovered

Lure Cavern was discovered by Andrew Campbell, his 13-year-old nephew Quint R, and a well-known photographer, Benton Stevens. All three are locals. The presence of limestone across a wide area of the Senandoha Valley attracts them. On August 13, 1878, the three of them became curious to see what was inside the cave when they saw cold air coming out of a small hole near the cave. The cave mystery expedition of these three people started.

Andrew Campbell and Benton Stevens;

Aiming at the underground cave, they started digging with the help of some people. After digging the hole for four hours, they found a tunnel. But it was not easy for anyone to enter through this tunnel except for the small Campbell and Quint. Campbell and Quint witnessed a heavenly scene as they descended some distance through the tunnel with the help of ropes. Seeing the infinite mystery of the cave, both of them became speechless for a few moments.

The way this creation of nature has developed

Lure Cavern is an impeccable creation of nature. It is as if nature in the cave has continued its construction by mixing the sweetness of the mind with its skillful hands. This amazing world has been created in the caves of Lure by melting the limestone water of the mountains below the ground. These outstanding caves are made of innumerable stalactites and stalagmites.

The marvelous creations of nature in the Lure Cavern Cave;

Stalactite granulated calcium carbonate. For thousands of years, droplets of water and other minerals have been combined to form solidified carbonate. This frozen calcium carbonate descends from the roof of the cave in various shapes. Its end is like a bar. Stelagmite and a type of granular calcium carbonate, which rises from the floor of the cave. Like stalagmite stalactite, it is formed from droplets of mineral-rich water from the roof of the cave.

These magnificent caves at Lure Cavern were made of stalactite and stalagmite;

According to many researchers, it took 120-300 years to form a cubic inch, depending on the flow of water. The first one goes down and the second one goes up. These two together form the strangely shaped pillars. It may seem as if some of the most elaborately carved pillars are in the cave cavity, like the pillars of an ancient installation.

One of the wonders of nature

It is really difficult to realize the beauty of this wonderful world of nature without seeing it with your own eyes. There is no telling how many types of stalagmite and stalactite have merged in the cave. Somewhere in the cave there are layers of thin stones in the shape of towels hanging from the cornice of the roof, somewhere or hanging from the top like a fringe. These are painted in different colors. There are also huge stones of stalactite and stalagmite in different parts of the cave.

In one place in the cave, water has accumulated and created a portrait of a natural lake. Going closer to it creates a transparent image of stalactite and stalagmite, which seems much more real than the reflection of glass. Some of the floors of the cave are covered with stagnant water and the colorful carvings of the carved stone of the cave are doubly beautiful. The cave is surrounded by colorful pillars and various stone ornaments.

Another interesting sight in Lure Cavern is the 6-foot-deep Wishing Lake;
