The Impact of Bullying in Schools in the Film Thread of Lies (2014)
Apologies are made verbally, only used when there is still time to apologize. Receiving an unforgivable apology, the heart can become restless.
In life, you will experience times when we want to pour out our hearts to strangers, because strangers don't need to keep their secrets.
People say, if parents do not live a good life, the child will receive karma.
When I read the title of the film, I thought this was a murder-themed film or a thriller, but actually this film is set in family and friendship.
Reporting from Wikipedia, the film Thread of Lies is based on the 2009 bestselling novel written by Kim Ryeo-ryeong with the title Elegant Lies. The film was directed by Lee Han in 2014.
Tells the story of a junior high school boy who is often ostracized and bullied into feeling depressed who finally chooses the path of suicide, named Cheon-ji. He lives with his mother and older sister, Manji, who is in high school.
Actually their family relationship is fine. The mother, who is a single parent, is very busy because she struggles to work by only being an employee at a supermarket. While his sister, an older brother who is cold-hearted and seems indifferent, but in fact of course they love each other.
In Cheon-ji's class, there is a girl who likes to bully named Hwa Yeon. This Hwa Yeon pretends to be nice to Cheon-ji, but actually she 'stabs in the back', slanders, slanders and spreads rumors about Cheon-ji to other classmates.
Meanwhile, another student named Mi ra, actually really likes to be friends with Cheon-ji, but because of Cheon-ji's mother and father, whom she thinks are dating, Mi ra hates Cheon-ji and joins in bullying her.
Cheon-ji is actually aware that he's being bullied by his friends, but still pretends to be ignorant, naive, and finally he's tired of it all.
Manji, who actually really loves and regrets his sister's departure, tries to find out what really makes his sister so tired and desperate.
Actually, his mother and Manji himself had heard Cheon-ji's complaints, but maybe they didn't realize and never thought that Cheonji would end his life.
Cheonji left a will/message before his death to his mother, sister, Hwa Yeon and Mira, through a letter tucked in a knitted wad of woolen yarn. Cheonji hopes that the people around him will have a good life after his death.
This movie is so good, I cried when I watched it. Lots of life lessons and opened my mind to the other side of 'depression and bullying';
1. Don't underestimate bullying cases
It may seem trivial to some people and it is normal for bullying to happen, with the reason that it is usually done by fellow teenagers or they are just having fun and playing, but we don't know how vulnerable someone is who gets the effects of bullying.
Bullying is not only in the form of physical violence, but can result in disruption of psychological conditions that can cause a person to become mentally disturbed, depressed and lead to suicide.
2. Recognize the symptoms of depression in the people around us
Maybe someone who is depressed looks fine from the outside, but actually he is holding a wound and hopes that someone will respond.
There are many symptoms of depression that can be seen, for example being more moody, aloof, Cheon ji himself had read a book about depression and told his mother and brother.
So, let's be more sensitive to the people around us. Help and support, because depression can not be faced alone. Need attention from family and closest people.
