The War of Independence of Bangladesh was a liberation struggle in 1971. It lasted from March 25, 1971 to December 16, 1971. Through this bloody war of independence, Bangladesh gained independence from Pakistan. Nothing can be said about the war of independence of Bangladesh. Bangladesh's war of independence is a war of the weak against the strong. The war for the liberation of the Bengali nation.

Before 1971, there was no country called Bangladesh. At that time Bangladesh was a province of Pakistan. Its name was East Pakistan and present Pakistan was West Pakistan. At the time of partition in 1947, the two countries were divided into one country, despite being thousands of miles apart on the basis of religion alone. All the administration of East Pakistan was carried out from West Pakistan. From the very beginning, the one-eyed policy of the Pakistani ruling class has been manifested in an extreme way.

War of Liberation The War of Liberation started on 26 March 1971 and ended with the independence of Bangladesh on 16 December that year. Issues that have soured relations between the two parts of Pakistan since the end of British rule in 1947 include land reform, inequality between the two provinces in terms of state language, economy and administration, provincial autonomy, and East PakistanDefense system and other related issues.

In the 1970 general elections, the Awami League won 18 of the 169 seats in East Pakistan in the National Assembly and Awami League leader Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman emerged as the sole representative of the people of East Pakistan. He became the leader of the majority party in the National Assembly of Pakistan. But Pakistan's military and civilian leadership conspired against the handover of power to the majority Awami League and its leader Sheikh Mujib. Sheikh Mujib's historic speech on March 7, 1971, made his attitude to the Pakistani military junta clear. Then the non-cooperation movement started.

Talks between Sheikh Mujib and Yahya Khan have already started to resolve the issue. Negotiations failed and at midnight on March 25, 1971, Pakistani troops started massacring Bengalis. The Bengali soldiers of the Pakistan Army and the Bengali members of the paramilitary forces immediately expressed solidarity with the people's liberation movement.

Declaration of Independence

On the night of March 25, 1971, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was arrested by the Pakistani aggressors. Shortly before his arrest, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman declared independence. Before the arrest of Sheikh Mujib, after 12 midnight on March 25 (i.e., March 26)A&T and the East Pakistan Rifles (EPR) declared independence via wireless (Bangladesh War of IVndependence Documents, 15th volume, p. 56). Many Awami League leaders took refuge in India during the massacre on the night of March 25.

On March 26, some officials of Chittagong Betar and local Awami League leader MA Hannan first miked Sheikh Mujib's declaration of independence. Later on March 26, a Bengali Major Ziaur Rahman of the Pakistan Army read the Declaration of Independence of Bangladesh on behalf of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on the night of March 26 from the Kalurghat radio station in Chittagong. (Source: Major Zia's radio announcement and Belal Mahmood's interview) He was accompanied by Colonel Oli Ahmed (then Captain). After receiving a direct call from the army, all speculations came to an end and the people of the country were convinced that the war for independence had begun.

The War of Liberation and its history, Bangladesh's recognition of India's killing of intellectuals.

On 14 December 1971, two days before the independence of Bangladesh, professors, doctors, artists, journalists and writers were abducted and killed. However, the killing of intellectuals started from March 25.

He was responding to a question from AKM Rahmatullah of the ruling party in the question and answer session scheduled for the Prime Minister in Parliament today.

Sheikh Hasina said the government is providing allowances to the concerned freedom fighter families and eminent freedom fighters in 8 categories for their special contribution in the liberation war.
