Cyber Criminals targeting tesla made headlines recently when Russian national allegely attempted to recruit a tesla staffe to install ransomware on the employer's network.Fortunately this threat was thwarted and malicious actor was seized by the FBI before he cloud flee the country.
Insider have always been a threat and this is just one of many examples some pupblic and some are not. After reading this i will define different varieties of insider threat and also unpack challenges that these present to secure organizations.
The recent Tesla insider threat case is indictive of a larger trend, when attackers cannot get past the technology at the perimeter ,they go straight for the human .
What are the Different challenges Associated with Reach Threat?
There only two categories for insider threats
intentional
Unintentional
intentional actor malicious intent whether ideological or financially motivated .
Unintentional is simply the employee that clicks the link and unwillingly introduce risk to the organization either through carelessness or lack of internal education.
both are equally as dangerous as the other . The testlas case is unique one and that the insider case does not fall into either category becuase he/she came forward.
