It is difficult to find the childhood of someone who did not steal and eat the fruit and leaves of other people's trees in his childhood. My childhood was gay in the nineties. Village boy. Lots of fruit trees around. Not so closed environment like city, open. Just as the nature of the village is open, so is the heart of the people of the village open and full of generosity. "Kids will steal fruit and eat it" - it was like an unwritten law. The adults did not bother much about it.

So we had a dream childhood. I think people change over time. I don't think there are any more simple liberal people like the ones I saw in the village at the time of my birth in the nineties. People are becoming more and more selfish, greedy and narrow-minded in the environment, situation and time.

So without further ado, let's start with the story of my childhood - some funny memories of stealing and eating fruit.

Let's start with mango first. I have preferred raw mangoes over ripe mangoes since childhood. During this time, small clumps of raw mango could be found in the month of Chaitra. Lots of mango stalks would fall down in Kal-Baishakhi or similar stormy winds, also a lot of mango stalks would be found on the lower branches of the mango tree. The plan to steal these was to sit on the dock built in the pond, after returning from the field in the afternoon after playing. At first we used to do Reiki in the area. Some people were spied on to find out which trees had good quality raw mango pods in large quantities. The spies worked very honestly, never leaving a mango tree in their garden. After finding the tree, another team was sent who were skilled in climbing the tree. They would go with the spies and do Reiki once more.

The correct plants would have been filtered in this final search. Trees that are as easy to climb as they are easy to get down and whose branches are low enough were only prime targeted. Planning is over. Now the action. I was the team leader. Everyone relied on my head to make the perfect plan. I have not seen any other group of boys with such a plan to steal. They believed in the principle of "hold the board, nail it". So we used to laugh at ourselves with them. From a very young age, I used to plan anything. So, according to the plan, we would wake up very early in the morning and show up at the edge of the pond. The final meeting would have taken place - very quickly. Everyone in the group would be divided into four groups.

The job of the first group is to guard. Whenever he saw an adult approaching a tree, he warned the rest of the group with a whistle. The task of the second group is to climb on the lower branches of the tree and tear off the stems and throw them down. The task of the third group is to gather all the fallen mango pods in one place and tie the bundles with towels. And, the task of the fourth and last group is to collect the bundles of towels in a safe place in the pond.

When all the work was done, the meal would start. As much as he could. Everyone had an oyster knife in their pocket. Peel a squash, grate it and squeeze the juice. For a while, no more words could be found. Just, squeak and squeak.

When the meal is over. I would share the rest of the kernels equally for everyone to take home. As a team leader, I was entitled to two extra knots from each share. Filling them in the pockets of the pants, we all made a face like a good boy who would go to his house and sit down to wash his face.
