Breaking the Cycle of Poor Guidance and Decision Making

Today, I'm discussing about the Poor Counseling concepts of our surrounding. We're always here to taunt others when someone's else does some wrong intentionally or unintentionally but when someone is doing something, we don't support or guide them either they are doing dood or bad. How I managed to understand this bitter reality of the society is basically linked to my own life because we learn when we face something and as a person we can't learn without experience it by ourselves.

When I was a child and I joined school I wasn't aware of anything. I mean I didn't have any future goal or aim that I would achieve afterwards but mainly I wanted to complete my class and so that I might reached home as soon as possible. No one was there to guide me either I did wrong or bad. But my parents, my family and friends were only forcing me to go to school and study without any solid motive.

Time went on, days passed and I reached at 9th standard. In our country there is a rule that in 9th standard, students decide what they want in their life. Whether they want to be a doctor or engineer or a computer expert and choose any one subject out of biology, mathematics and computer. It doesn't matter either a child has studied anyone of subjects earlier or not. Whether the student has proper guidance about any of these subjects or not. He usually forced by his parents to study the subjects of their choice and opt a professional that he has no knowledge or interest.

I also do the same and chose biology because I wanted to be a doctor without any proper guidance. The first two years of matriculation i.e. 9th and 10th, passed very quickly and I didn't understand what's going on and what I should do. At the end my matriculation completed and I secured 83% marks. Then I had to study at high school or a college where again I've to choose among these subjects again. As I had studied biology already so I chose it again.

The same trend passed and I passed intermediate with 87% marks. After it, those students who want to be a doctor usually give MDCAT. It's a medical and dental college admission test. I gave this test too and didn't pass because I had no interest of becoming a doctor but my family insisted me to give this test again. So, I wasted my one year and gave this test again but I failed again .

Then, my family asked me that I could choose any field of my choice and could study further because of Poor Counseling or lack of knowledge, I didn't have any sense what to do and which field is better for me and what are my interests. In our society, those students who don't pass MDCAT usually choose chemistry as their career so I did the same and got an admission in BS chemistry.

That was the third time when I had chosen something without any knowledge. As I progressed further in my life and got some sense I came to know that I didn't have any future goal or aim, and I was only running behind something that made no sense at all for me. But, I don't have any choice now, I had to complete my degree otherwise I had to do some job to run my family.

But the lesson that I received after going through my life is that, we don't has proper knowledge and guidance in my country. I don't know about other countries but in my country there is a lack of proper guidance or proper counselling. And because of this improper guidance, we only force our new generation to do something that we have seen in our surrounding and we don't have any knowledge of that. Even, we are unaware of the interest of our child, what he basically want to do, and not only parents but also children aren't aware of it. They don't know what are there interests and what they should do.

The main reason is poor infrastructure, lack of guidance and improper or incomplete knowledge. In the early age, there must be some institute where should our children some space and give them proper guidance about all the fields and teach them about it. And then, let them choose what they want to be in their life and what are their interests. Anf it shouldn't be limited to this, even after studying this subject if they find it un interesting and they want to choose sometime else then we should support them to do what they basically want.

Because without this, they will not achieve a good career in their life and they will also blamed you for this later in life because you've forced them to choose a career for them without knowing that either your child is interesting in this subject or not.

I've also faced the same scenario and now I often think that if I received a proper guidance in the early stage of my life that it might be possible that I get something good now. But I wasn't aware of it and even my family and other friends weren't proper guided about it. That's why I'm facing many problems now.

In conclusion, I only say that we must develop a proper guidance system for our next generation and guide them properly about their future because a single wrong decision could lead them to the worse in the later part of their life. We should also receive some proper guidance, and develop some institutes and counseling teams that visit every school and college and guide our generation. Guide them, what is better for them, and how can they choose their real passion and aim.
