The Linux Foundation-led consortium Hyperledger has announced the release of version 2.0 of the Fabric blockchain platform.
The new version of open source software contains a number of important updates, including decentralized management of smart contracts and data privacy based on the principle of official necessity.
In particular, the new release makes it impossible to save entries to the registry without consensus on transactions, while it is now possible to selectively share confidential data with consortium members.
“The release of Hyperledger Fabric 2.0 is an important step in the evolution of distributed ledger technology (DLT). The release is based on feedback resulting from the application of technology to solve real problems, ”said Rob Palatnik , Managing Director of the consortium of the Depository Trust and Clearing Corporation (DTCC).
The new version also introduces a new external chaincode launcher, a new type of Raft consensus and features that provide overall performance improvements.
The Hyperledger project started in 2016 with the support of the largest companies in the world, including IBM and JP Morgan. Among the consortium members who are studying Hyperledger Fabric technology and contributing to the development of this project, such giants as SAP, DTCC, Digital Asset Holdings, Fujitsu, GE, Hitachi, Huawei Technologies, State Street Bank and others.
