"THROW DOWN A CHALLENGE"
' If you challenge a person to do something he will definitely do it'
Charles swab had a mill manager whose people was not producing their quota of work, on being questioned by swab the manager replied "I DO NOT KNOW" and he added that he has coaxed his people, threatened them to fire of the company, or by reducing salary but nothing worked to get these people to acheive the desired result.
Charles swab took a chalk from the nearby table and asked the nearest worker "How many heats did your shift make today?" '6' the worker replied. Swab did nothing but draw a big 6 on the floor and walked away, when the night shift came for the duty they asked from the fellow workers "what is it"? to which they said Today, the big manager came and only asked about how many heats did we produce in our shift and wrote that on this floor and not uttered a single word. When the night shift passed away, and just before the day shift was about to start Charles went to the spot and erased the 6 and wrote down 7, when the day shift arrived and saw, it didn't took much time for them to figure that the night shift has produced 7 heats which they consider as a challenge to them against the night shift. They worked and replaced the 7 by 8 in the evening by themselves and when the night shift arrives they cosidered that they are being hallenged by the day shift, they produced more than 8 and replaced the 8 by a new number, "A NEW CHALLENGE", this process keeps on going and the swab's mill becomes the highest producing mill in the state, and he also praised the team and their work which helps in keeping the enthusiasm high of these people. That is what every successful person loves: the game. The chance for selfexpression. The chance to prove his or her worth, to excel, to win. That is what makes foot-races, and hog-calling, and pie-eating contests. The desire to excel. The desire for a feeling of importance.
