On a cold day with black clouds covering the sky, a man walked on the road with heavy slow steps. It doesn't take more than a glance to know that something was odd with that guy. His name was Paul and he was just fired from his job after losing his temper arguing with his boss and threatening to kill him. He kept dragging his feet until he reached his house, where he lived with his wife and child, but he wasn't thinking about them. Paul only thought about his favourite companion: Alcohol.
He didn't care much when his doctor warned him how bad his "alcoholic liver" disease became, also ignored the sudden mood swings and aggression he developed with his drinking habit. In his mind, that bottle was a magical tool to release all of his stress, a gate to a wonderland where his annoying child doesn't exist and his always nagging, fat like a barrel wife will turn into the charming model he knew before she insisted on having a kid.
But this time, Paul had the excuse of getting fired to drink even twice as the usual. Bottle after the other, his brain soaked in alcohol giving him a feeling of excitement he never felt before. He went to his wife who was playing with their 4 years old son. The man started stripping his wife and touching her everywhere, but all what he got was rejection with a slap on his face. At that moment, Paul's excitement turned into a Tsunami of anger, he started beating his wife like crazy in a way that scared the kid and made him crawl under the bed like a worm inside an apple hugging his teddy.
Few minutes later, it was all calm. When his father left to the next room, he came out only to find his mom on the floor, her eyes rolled back, bruises all over her and bleeding from her mouth and nose. Being so innocent, the poor perplexed kid went to his dad to ask him why his mommy was "sleeping" on the floor. He stepped in and before he could even speak, Paul decided to put a bullet in his own temple and collapsed swimming in a pool of his own blood.
30 years later, the only surviver is homeless and a heavy drinker for the sole purpose of erasing the ashes of that day from his memory...
