Logan Paul is an American actor, director, vlogger and Internet star. He was born on April 1, 1995 in Westlake, USA. Paul gained fame through clips, which he shared on the internet platform Vine. His work on television includes appearing in the series "Law and Order: A Special Unit for Victims" and "Strange Lonely Men" as a guest. In addition, Logan appeared in the films The Thinning and The Space Between Us.

Childhood

Logan claims that his ancestors date from England, Ireland, Austria, Germany, Bulgaria and Wales. He grew up in the small town of Westlake, Ohio with his mother Pam Stepnicki, father Greg Paul and younger brother Jake. Growing up in Ohio with his brother, Logan started shooting videos for YouTube, at just ten years old. Their channel, although initially amateur, became popular among the youth over time, and they started making money from it. The channel was called Zush. Paul attended Westlake High School, where he became a football star in 2012, when he received the title of "Plain Dealer's All-Star", and thus qualified for the OHSAA state championship. In 2013, he became interested in wrestling, and in the same year he participated in the Individual Wrestling Championship. During the period when he was supposed to go to college, his YouTube channel gathered a solid number of subscribers. He enrolled in "Industrial Engineering" at the University of Ohio, but in 2014 he dropped out of school to advance his career. His dream was to become an entertainer on social networks, which is why he moved to Los Angeles and started living with other Vine stars. Over time, he explained his relationship with his family in the clips, which always seemed unconventional to everyone. Paul stated that he always viewed his father more as a coach who makes him achieve amazing things and test his limits, thus creating a competitive atmosphere between him and his younger brother. Even today, there is a huge rivalry between the brothers, since at one point the two of them were the most popular stars of the YouTube scene. Logan's parents divorced while he was in high school, which his sons found hard to bear. As he himself says, he focused that negative energy first on wrestling, and later on creating a career. His mother remarried. Both she and their father are present on social media, as they both have their own channels on YouTube.

Career

Paul gained his internet fame after he started posting clips lasting 6 seconds on the Vine platform. In February 2014, he had more than 3.1 million followers on various social networks, and thus became famous outside of Wine. His fame is growing rapidly, which is shown by the fact that in April of the same year, he already had 105 thousand followers on Twitter, 361 thousand on Instagram, 31 thousand on Facebook and over 150 thousand on YouTube. His compilation of Vine clips on YouTube was viewed more than 4 million times in the first week of its release. In 2015, he reached the tenth place of the "Most Influential Figures on Wine", and it is estimated that video clips lasting 6 seconds brought him hundreds of thousands of dollars, through commercials. By October of that year, his works on Facebook alone had over 300 million views. After Vine, he appeared on the cover of EdWick magazine. Shortly afterwards, Logan went on tour, traveling to London, Spain, Germany, China, Japan, Brazil and France. In those cities, he was filmed working on a rope in popular locations. While in Belize, Logan was the first to ever record a live broadcast, via Facebook, underwater. After that, in Brazil, together with a friend, he created a famous bow at Olympia, which was seen by 60 million people in the first seven days, although it was removed due to copyright infringement. Logan created a YouTube channel called "Officially Logan Paul" on which he publishes short clips and funny sketches. In addition, he has a vlog channel on which he published videos daily from September 12, 2016 to January 1, 2018. The vlog channel is called "Logan Paul Vlogs". The first channel has more than 4 million subscribers, and the investment channel exceeded that figure, counting more than 18 million subscribers in 2018. In 2015, Paul spread his fame from the Internet to traditional media. That's how he found himself in the series "Law and Order: A Special Unit for Victims", and in Fox's "Strange Lonely Men", where he played the twins Paul. He also acted in two episodes of Friform's series "Trace of Memory". In 2016, Paul starred in Red’s YouTube film “The Thining” alongside Peyton List. In order to improve his acting skills, he practiced with drama coaches. Logan also wrote the screenplay for the adult comedy, "Airplane Mode," which has been described as "American Pie 2" and "Expendables" with Internet stars. The film has not been released yet. Paul has also participated in numerous campaigns, including Hannes, PepsiCo, and HBO. At the end of 2016, Comcast bought a short series in digital form from Logan, called "Logan Paul VS". In February 2017, Dwayne The Rock Johnson announced on his YouTube channel that Logan had been kicked out of all The Rock movies, in a clip in which he broke sad news to a vlogger, and comforted him by telling him that he had become ambassador for his upcoming film “Baywatch”. In April, Johnson and Paul reunite, where in the first part of the video, Paul tries to impress Dwayne to get a role in his film, and falls in love with actress Alexandra Daddario. It was later announced that in the ejected scene of the video, Paul was actually removed from the cast of the film. He would appear in it as Zane, a guy who bullies Ronnie's character. On February 3, 2018, after an amateur boxing match with Joe Weller, British YouTube star KSI challenged Paul and his brother to a boxing match. On the 24th, it was announced that the Paul brothers would fight Casey and his younger brother Deji (Deji), better known as ComedyShortsGamer, in several matches. The first match was held on August 25, 2018 at the Manchester Arena in Manchester. In addition to the tickets, the audience could watch the match via YouTube, live for $ 10 per person. The match was declared the biggest event in the history of YouTube, as well as the biggest amateur boxing match. The fight ended with a draw between Logan and Casey, as two of the three judges voted 57-57, and the third voted 58-57 in favor of Casey. The next fight should take place in February 2019 in America. The match was watched by more than 5 million people over the Internet, and over 8,000 tickets were sold, on which the participants earned 3.5 million US dollars.

Controversy

On November 23, 2017, Logan released a single called "No Handlebars", a song based on a sample of the song "Handlebars" by the American alternative hip hop group Flobots. The song has been heavily criticized for the way Logan presents women as sexual objects, including a scene in a music video, where at one point he "rides" several women like a bicycle. Flobots frontman Jamie Laurie condemned Logan's behavior for sexist lyrics and unauthorized use of a sample of the song. Laurie later released the song "Handle Your Bars", where he mocks Paul. Logan did not comment on the song, nor the comments of the public, but he removed the video from YouTube. On December 31, 2017, Paul posted a video on his YouTube channel showing the recently deceased body of a man who committed suicide by hanging himself in Aokigahara, the base of Mount Fuji in Japan. The place is known as the "suicide forest" because many Japanese people decide to end their lives in it. Although he planned to make a three-part series, called "Tokyo Adventures", by camping in the woods with his friends, after finding the body, Paul decided to inform the police and change his plans. The video has been viewed 6.3 million times in just 24 hours since its release. Logan was criticized by celebrities and politicians, and members of the YouTube community accused him of being insensitive to suicide victims and their families. Several petitions on Change.org were made to delete Logan's YouTube channel. The largest has collected over half a million signatures by January 12, 2018. As a result of the controversy, Paul deleted the video from the platform, and posted an apology on Twitter. On January 2, 2018, he posted a video on YouTube where he explains that his intention was never to ridicule the victim, and warns his fans not to defend him, because he acted irresponsibly. The video was watched by 51.5 million people by July 2018. On January 9, 2018, YouTube shared the statement via Twitter, condemning Logan's video. The next day, it was announced that Logan's channel had been removed from "Google Preferred" (his advertising platform), and that his sequel to The Thinning was on hold. In addition, "Logan Paul VS" was also abolished, so Paul was expelled from the fourth season of the YouTube series "Foursome", and the character of Alec Fixler (Alec Fixler), who was interpreted by Logan, was abolished. On January 15, Logan was seen at the airport, and he explained to reporters how he learned a lot from his mistakes, and when asked if he thought he deserved a second chance, he answered "Brother, everyone deserves a second chance." On January 24, Logan posted the first video on "Logan Paul Vlogs" after the incident. The video tells the story of suicide prevention, leading a conversation with Golden Gate jumper Kevin Hines, musician Bob Forest (Bob Forrest) and director of the International Suicide Prevention Line, Dr. John Draper. The video was rated positively, and more than 29 million people watched it by June 2018. In addition, Paul donated a million dollars to suicide prevention foundations. On February 4, he returned to the daily posting of the video, after a controversy that lasted for a month. Regarding the scandalous video, Maverick Apparel, a children's clothing brand, threatened to sue Paul for giving a similar name to his clothing line (Maverick by Logan Paul), as customers mixed the two companies, causing Maverick Apparel's sales to drop significantly. . On February 9, YouTube canceled all commercials on Logan's channel for his behavior, after announcing that he would participate in Tide under challenge, electro shocked two dead rats, and pulled a sick fish out of an aquarium to "give it artificial respiration." . He was thus deprived of a million-dollar income per month, albeit for a short time. There is currently a debate on the YouTube scene, for obvious reasons, about whether Logan Paul is a sociopath. From the beginning of his career, the audience considered him a very motivated and organized person, and some things went unnoticed. Daily publication and a large number of reviews could not mask his unusual behavior. From stealing his brother's girlfriend to showing the dead on YouTube, it's not hard to conclude why there have been discussions on the Internet about whether Logan is a sociopath. Shane Dawson's documentary about his younger brother Jake Paul also contributed to that speculation. It investigates what led to Jake's bad behavior, and all attention is focused on Logan and his influence.
