Moment of truth that gives pain

One of the most difficult things a person must do is to accept reality and move on from it. When we're young, many of us have a tendency to overanalyze situations and circumstances. We think that by doing so, we can avoid or soften the pain they bring. In time, we must learn that avoiding or ignoring past occurrences only compounds the problem. In the case of a painful moment of truth, it takes courage to confront your past and release the anger or sorrow they have stored within you.

A confrontation with your past can hurt your present. It can destroy your peace and confidence because you don't know how to cope with the stress and anxiety that came with the pain in the past. A painful moment of truth can be emotionally damaging if you let it eat at your insides for too long. Instead, learn to let go and move forward- even if you have to tear down some of your old beliefs along the way. Learning from your past will help you release the anger and sorrow it brought with it. By facing your demons head-on, you will free yourself from its poison and allow yourself to be at peace with reality once again.

It's good to face your fears during a moment of truth. Facing your fears - specifically those that keep you from being happy - is an important step in growth. You never know what fear may push you toward when faced with a difficult moment of truth. Perhaps confronting something scares you so much that you decide to run away and hide from it instead of handling it properly. Or, perhaps facing something will help you obtain the skills necessary to succeed in life. Either way, facing fears is an important thing to do; it just depends on how you choose to go about it.

The student faced his biggest fear when he got his report card. After failing several classes, he was worried he wouldn't graduate from high school. On his way home from school one day, he stopped at his grandmother's house so he could use her phone to call his mom. When he called home, his grandmother answered the phone and gave him some money she'd saved up for him. With enough money left over, he was able to buy a used car and drive himself home after school that night. As long as his fear kept him in class, he would eventually pass his classes and earn his diploma.

Anyone can learn lessons from their past no matter how painful they are. A painful moment of truth can help us face our fears and learn important lessons in peace. Although facing our demons may seem impossible at times, they're always there if we look hard enough- just like Aunt Sue's ghostly aunt-Margaret-was always there if Margaret wanted her to be.
