There were five people who made up his family, his father Juan, a strong, hard-working man of good principles instilled by a loving and strongly religious mother, his mother Susan, daughter of working and humble peasants, his 20-year-old sister Julie, who did not want to go to college and instead decided to stay on her parents' farm to "help with everything necessary" and, most importantly, be close to her boyfriend.
His brother Roy who was still studying, he was very good at it and always wanted to know more. That's why he studied so much.
Then there was him, Emil, the youngest with 10 years old. Scruffy, he always had to milk the cows in the morning and look for eggs for breakfast, and then he had to go directly to school. He usually went to the bust stop with his brother Roy and waited for it to arrive.
Emil got along very well with everyone in his family; he had a good relationship even with his brothers. At lunchtime they had a lot of things to talk about and everyone had the opportunity to share their daily experiences. But Emil had the desire deep in his heart to be able to live in a city, where he didn't have to milk cows and collect eggs every day.
That morning he did the usual stuff, milk the cows and grab the eggs, but while holding one of the eggs he said to himself "I wish you were a magic egg that could grant me my greatest wish…" He immediately felt a strange sensation throughout his body and then Emil was transferred to a different place.
She was in a city somewhere, he realized, and suddenly he had a new family, but didn’t know either of these new parents, but Emil did realize that his fondest wish was happening. How did it happen? He doesn’t know, maybe the chicken egg really was magic. “It’s great I guess…” says Emil, a new beginning in a big city. “But a new family?” It's the only thing he didn’t like.
His father was the owner of a major export company, Mister Phillips they called him, and his mother was a fashion executive, Miss Phillips. Of course they were very busy people, and Emil was their only child, which was fine with Emil because that meant there were less new family members to know about. “I hope we get to out and have lots of fun!” He thought.
It was still very early in the morning and Emil had to be “groomed” by Miss Mia, the family’s own maid, to get him ready to go to school, the family chauffeur would drive him there. Once Mia was finished she said “You’re ready young man, you can go” to which Emil replied: “Could you please accompany me to the door?” See, Emil didn't even know where the door of his house was and he tried to hide his clumsiness because Miss Mía does seem to know him in more detail.
What he didn’t know is that Miss Mia only really helped him because that's what they paid her for.
He was driven by Jaime, who he would later learn is the family’s own chauffeur, to the school. Emil was excited, his teachers and friends awaited him there.
Or so he thought, where are his friends? No one came to meet him, and the teachers all call him by his last name! “Mr. Phillip” The classes aren’t pleasant, there is no time to laugh or to goof around, it’s class after class after class… "God, when does this end?" Finally, once classes are over Jaime picks him up. Now he will finally get to meet his parents, he thought with great enthusiasm.
Once he gets home he has to take a shower, according to Miss Mia and then go down to eat, after he was done he ran downstairs, excited, he had wanted to know the kind of parents he had here. The food is ready, Mia said. H found a very large table, almost big enough to fit his whole family back at the ranch, but not even his old parents are here. "Mia, where are my parents?" He asks?
"Young man, remember that your parents never eat at home." Mia said... Emil prepared to eat alone and eventually he had to do his homework, alone. After a day of boring tasks, night came with the same calm that the day passed. He was happy again, looking forward to meeting his new parents from the city now that it was night time, but that's when Mia arrives and informs him that "As always your parents will arrive very late, so you shouldn't wait for them awake." What gives!? He almost says, do I live alone in this house? Is what Emil thinks.
He lived now with no friends at school and only being taken care of by a maid and a driver. When he went to bed he was thinking that night that he now lived through a terrible loneliness, just because he had made a wish to live in a city… This is the worst thing that could have happened! Oh, how he regrets it, he said to himself, while crying on his pillow.
Immediately Emil appeared in the chicken coop, with a cracked egg in his hand and lying on the ground. He felt a small pain on the back of his head and the wetness of the broken egg on his hand, but the joy of being back home made him feel like he had nothing at all. He ran out with his milk and eggs to the kitchen at home where all of his family was there, waiting for him and asking why it took so long. To which he replied "Believe me, it seemed to me that it took longer than you imagine"
…On the other hand, did all of that really happen or was it just a nightmare? Nonetheless, this is the most beautiful family that he could have and the place where he wants to live the rest of his life!
Great story. I enjoyed reading it.
'She was in a city somewhere, he realized..'
'She' should be 'He'
Good luck with the stories. 👍🍀💕
