When you think of a funeral, the traditional black hearse is probably one of the first things that come to mind. However, an increasing number of people are choosing to buck tradition and make their final ride an experience that will be remembered.

According to a report published by Co-op Funeralcare, there has been an increase of 21% in the number of requests for alternative modes of transportation, and just under half (48%) of the company's funeral directors Dundee have been asked to locate a one-of-a-kind hearse for a funeral.

Because of the growing demand for non-traditional alternatives to the standard black hearse, the Co-op has recently added two new vehicles to its fleet, one of which is rainbow-coloured, and the other of which is adorned with poppies.

When asked what they believe has caused this shift toward more unique funeral arrivals, the majority of the experts said that people feel more able to act on the personal wishes of their loved ones than they would have in the past. This is in contrast to what would have happened in the past.

Cyclists have the option of travelling in a group known as a bicycle convoy.

And originality isn't limited to the hue of the hearses; in fact, an increasing number of people are choosing to forgo the traditional taxi altogether in favour of something that's a little bit more unique.

The funeral transport that the Co-op has observed to be the most unusual.

  • Boats on a Canal

  • Milk Float

  • Steam Train That Has Been Converted

  • Lorry

  • Combination of tractor and trailer

  • Quad Bike

  • Hearse on a Motorcycle

  • Tandem Bike (Tandem Bike)

  • Carriage drawn by horses

Others are going petrol-free and relying on pedal power to get them to the funeral, while others are choosing to arrive at the funeral in a vehicle that holds a special place in their heart, such as a Land Rover or a motorcycle.

Co-op Funeralcare is eager to dispel the myth that traveling to a funeral has to be an ordinary experience for everyone, regardless of the interests or preferences of the individual in question. If you have an idea that is daring or out of the ordinary, there is a good chance that it can be made a reality.
