Synchronic - Each current location is a different coordinate of the past.
Synchronic, a time-travel themed movie, was remarkable as a production with a lot of sci-fi and thriller elements. The time-travel themed movies I've seen so far have made time travel possible with a vehicle, a portal or a black hole in space, the exact purpose of which is still unresolved.
I watched Synchronic, thinking that movies with a difference are always worth seeing, and I loved the story flow that goes in harmony with its simple plot. Don't expect much from the movie when it comes to sci-fi, but it offers excellent viewing pleasure as it reflects the tension and mystery at the highest level.
As with most story beginnings, you spend about 15 minutes at the beginning of the movie trying to piece together the clues given to understand what is going on, trying to get out of the confusion of ideas you have fallen into. As the pieces fall into place, you become more convinced that nothing in the universe happens for no reason and that every development has a connection to the past.
First of all, the movie creates a mental confusion. Even the place you are at that moment can be the coordinates of any time in the past. By going to a different time when you are in a chair, another time when you are on the carpet and another time when you are in the next room, the date counter is set. And in order to return from each past to the present, it is necessary to reach the place where the journey begins and ends within a limited time. Otherwise you are lost forever in other people's memories of the past.
This thesis alone becomes frightening during the viewing. Everywhere can be a time machine, a black hole or a gateway to the past because time travel is actually enabled by the synthetic drug of the same name as the movie. In order to be under the influence of the drug and travel through time, certain parts of the brain must be uncalcified or as clear as between childhood and adolescence.
I must say that I found the acceptance of time travel through the scenario of the movie and the fiction created more realistic than many other movies I have seen. I liked the idea that each location actually determines a date in the past. The fact that it is not the characters' choice to go to the past and then return to the future adds extra value to the movie because it adds a great mystery effect to the fiction created.
Imagine, you suddenly become a part of the past that you didn't want to leave and that you thought you left in the dusty pages of history, and you try to do everything to go back, but the key is the synthetic drug Synchronic that takes you there. The steering wheel is the place you are in at that moment.
I think the fact that the movie focuses on the lives of two dear friends is a minimization of the impact the movie can have. I think such a beautiful script should have been more universal and should have affected a wider audience. It was as if the director was careful to keep the movie within a certain boundary and succeeded when he wanted to.
Anthony Mackie, who plays the character of Steve, the person who has the ability, sorry, the brain, to time travel, was one of the names worth watching both with his drama scenes and his ability to put together the puzzle pieces that help him solve the mystery. There is a reason why his brain is not atrophied enough, but let that reason be the mystery of the movie. I want you to know that I prefer you to watch the movie instead of reading it from me. I apologize for the joke I made between the brain and the yeti, but I am sure you will understand what I want to say better when you watch the movie.
I liked most of the things in Synchronic, the only thing I didn't like was that there were limits to the story. Nevertheless, I strongly recommend you to watch the movie, because the script and the time travel description were incredibly beautiful. Except for the boring 5-10 minutes at the beginning of the movie, the movie flows smoothly and each time you are intrigued to know what kind of time you are going to go to.
