What a blog is? Do I need to create a website? The truth.

Blogs have emerged almost at the same time as the Web during the 90’s. Do you know from where the word *blog* comes? Blog is a derivation of “Web log”, a term used in the early 90’s for the log of visitors that the administrator of a Web server could see. Jorn Barger used for the first time the word “weblog” in the title of his personal website *Robot Wisdom: A Weblog by Jorn Barger* . His website was a list of links to other sites. This is quite obvious, but we all here at read.cash are blogging with no need of taking care of hosting services, html, css, or java. So, strictly speaking, no, **you don't need to build a website in order to have a blog.** And of course, read.cash is not the only website providing a space in the web to have a personal blog. Blogger.com, Facebook, and even Twitter (microblogging) are different examples of it. Nonetheless, new issues arise. Why do you want to have a blog? Are any of the existing blogging platforms fulfilling what you want to do? Do you want to monetize your blog? What audience do you want to reach?

Blogs share a writing style that usually is easy to read, with small paragraphs, short sections, personal references, and fresh sentences. Bloggers are not constrained to such a writing style, but the general tendency is "entertaining, informative, and/or inspirational, easy reading". Having a blog and building a website are not the same thing. You do not need to build a website to blog, just go to some blogging platform and start writing! You can blog with no need of understanding what a CMS is. All depends on what you want to achieve with your blog.
