How You Can Start Free Writing Blog to Earn Money?
If we reflect back to a time when the internet was not progressed, we can see that writing was an underrated profession. Many writers were not paying off the right amount of money they deserve. Many writers were earning a little amount of money that hardly pays their bills and there were fewer opportunities for them to avail — because at that time they were limited to writing for agencies, TV, newspapers, magazines and another way was to publish their books to earn from writing.
As the internet proves its worth in the whole world — everything becomes dependent on it. At the beginning of its progress, everyone seemed to talk about its negative aspects without realising that the lack is on the human side because they don’t know the right way to use it. While the internet is providing lots of opportunities for everyone to set their online career. So the fate of writers is changing too. Now writers are at the top of all professions — they are demanded everywhere —in freelancing, blogging, ghostwriting, content writing, and many more. Other than this, writers are not bound to beg for writing vacancies in particular institutions. Now — they are their own boss. You can set your published your books, start your writing blogs, and can create your freelancing portfolios. The most popular way to create your blog is by making a website and we are familiar that it is not free to run websites — it requires little to larger investment depending on various factors. I can understand that buying a website domain is not affordable for everyone — thus, here is good news for all of you that you can create your writing blog at zero cost and earn as much as you want.
There are many writing sites/platforms that allow writers to join for free. Here are some of them.
1. Medium
Medium is one of the most popular platforms among writers and readers that welcome writing talent from all over the world. You can join Medium without spending a single penny. You can set it to use as a portfolio for your freelancing purposes, e.g to give samples — and you can join Medium Partner Programme to earn money from your articles as well. If you are enrolled in Medium Partner Program, you will get earn money when the Medium members will read your article. Medium does not pay as per view because Medium does not pay you from its pocket. You only earn money from member reading.
2. Vocal.media
Vocal.media is also very popular among writers and almost all Medium users are familiar with Vocal.media. On Vocal.media you can also sign up for free and start posting your articles. Not only this — Vocal.media also give some bonuses to writers as a reward to post a certain number of articles. They pay $3 per 1000 views for simple Vocal users and $6 for Vocal plus users. My favorite thing about Vocal.media is ‘‘challenges’’. Challenges are a type of competition you can participate in and get a reward. Vocla.media announce weekly or monthly challenges. By participating in challenges you can earn upto $500, $1000, $3000, or even more.
3. Hubpages
You can sign up for HubPages for free. Hubpages is a little more tricky than Medium or Vocal.media. You can create your free blog on HubPages and earn money from your content. There are three ways to earn money on HubPages:
Views/traffic to your articles
Ads
Affiliate marketing
4. NewsBreak
NewsBreak is a platform for creators. It's a US-based platform that allows only US writers to join platform. But a hidden truth is — you can still join the platform if you are not local resident. You can apply to join the NewsBreak creator program and they will let you know whether you are eligible or not. In my case — they first told me that they are sorry but they cannot let me be in the NewsBreak Creator Program because I am not a US resident. A month later, I got an invitation from them to write for them and they welcomed me into the Creator program. They claim to pay $1000 per month based on your article's score. To be eligible for earning — you have to monetize your account and their monetization criteria is100 registered followers and 10 published articles.
Like Medium, NewsBreak keeps chaging its terms and conditions. The monetization criteria for now is as mentioned above. It might change in coming years.
Instead of buying costly Domains of WordPress you can create your free blog on these platforms and also can earn money through it. By creating blog on these sites — you also can provide your articles as sample while bidding on Freelance jobs that put a very strong impression of yours on buyers.
