How can we manage a stroke patient?

General management

• Closely assess and monitor neurological status frequently and compare with baseline

• Careful regular turning, skin keep dry,and clean

• Care of airway : Oropharyngeal suction if unconscious

• Keep the patient in lateral position

• Maintain proper oxygenation

• Maintain Gasgow Coma Scale and note down it

• Fluid balance :NG feeding if cannot swallow, bladder catheterization if it incontinence

• Physiotherapy:To prevent joint contractures to clean chest secretions

• Speech and occupational therapy

• Intake and output must be maintain

• Vital sign checked and noted it but if any abnormality occur inform the doctor

• Prevention of bed sore by two hourly change of position,drying the skin, smoothening the skin with powders, using water bed
