How to be a good friend? While scrolling on my social media page I saw this picture: Sadly, this is the reality today. A person may have lots of friends but when in need there is only one good friend who is there to help. Nowadays technology enables people to gain friends easily. In just one click we can be friends with someone on social media platforms. We can even gain not just hundreds, but even thousand of friends! And when we no longer want to be friends with them we can simply click a button to remove or unfriend them. Many people surely loves love to gain a lot of friends online, they enjoy it a lot when friends appreciates their posts, like and comment on their pictures and some even shares them. Others also spends many hours talking to friends through social media messaging apps. People may have thousands of friends on the internet but how about having real close friends? Many would agree that they only have few real good friends compared to their online friends. (Well, it's the same for me too) Many will also agree that there is more to friendship aside from liking or reacting, commenting and long hours of chatting through social media messaging apps. And most of us doesn't want to have gain friendship that ends in just one click, we want long lasting friendship and we want to gain real good friends! **Consider the following friendship tips that may help in gaining good friends:** • To have long lasting friendship with people and to gain a good friend, we must be a good friend first. • We must care for them first, show them that we are really interested and ***willing to give them our time and effort without expecting anything in return***. When we do this they will definitely notice and that will help us be drawn to each other and eventually become good friends. **Communication is vital**! The flame of friendship becomes brighter if we have constant communication. And always remember that ***listening is one way to an effective communication***. Be willing to listen and respect their opinion even though you may not agree with it. • Keep in mind that ***being a good friend doesn't necessarily mean that we should tolerate their wrong doings***. Though it's not easy at times and it may feel a bit awkward we must help them and speak up if they did something wrong. A good friend is not always the same age as you. Others think that when someone is older they may not have the same interest and may not understand each other hence, they can't be good friends with them. But that is not true. ***We can enjoy long lasting friendship even though there is a big age gap***. Personally, I have friends who are way older than me but I have them as good friends. They can give advices which our peers can't give. Building friendship may require time and effort but it's all worth it. It's worth having good friends and enjoy long lasting friendship with them. **How about you? What do think is the best way to gain good friends? And can we br a good friend to someone?** **Please feel free to 👍 & Subscribe 💕**

Dear Parents I know that you parents may have different ways of raising your children but I hope you consider these suggestions too. If you are trying to discipline your children do it in private. Make them realize that they've done something wrong but don't do it when other people are watching, please do it in private. They may be your children and you have all the right to discipline them, but they also have a sense of shame. Don't embarass them in front of other people. Don't compare your child to someone else' child. Being compared to others is the worst and most awful feeling ever. Comparing won't do good, it will only make your child lose confidence and self esteem. If you want your children to do better, teach and train them instead of comparing them to others. If your child has an achievement make them feel that you are happy for them. Be contented of what they've achieved instead of making them feel that what they've done isn't enough. They may have done the best they could and lack of appreciation will only bring heartaches. Your simple appreciation means so much to children. It may serve as a motivation. Your child's attitude depends on how you train them and how you treat them. Don't expect your child to be like someone else's son or daughter when you didn't even make the effort to be a better parent. Teach your child to be independent by letting them do things on their own. Don't be afraid to leave them doing task alone. Let them make mistakes, as making mistakes is a common thing to children. And those mistakes will teach them valuable lessons in life. Discipline doesn't always mean spanking or beating up your child *(Though not all parents are doing this way of disciplining*) Please teach your child a lesson in a loving way. Not hurting them physically and emotionally *(though it is really required at times, but do it in the most appropiate situation only)* Sincerely, ***Daughter***

Parents: Are they our Prison Guards or Our Life Guards? As kids, our parents have been our first confidante, they we're probably the only person whom we trust. Whenever we have a problem, we ran to them to ask for advice and at the same time we have confidence that it's okay to trust and tell them how we feel. However as we grow older, things change. Children are oftentimes annoyed by their parent's nagging, some think that their parents does not understand how they feel. Sometimes it's just too hard to communicate with them especially when you are talking and trying to tell them something and they will cut you off. So talking to them usually ends up into arguments. There are also instances when children wants to gain more freedom but it seems like it's too hard to gain their trust. When children encounter this, at times, we think that the easiest way to avoid arguments is not to talk to our parents and do things behind their back to avoid the restrictions. Our parents loves us very much so they want what's the best for us. That's why they give those house rules, chores, curfews, reminders, correction and they discipline us if needed. Sometimes, we may not come in agreement with our parents and we get frustrated because of that. But here's the thing - how we view our parents affects how much we obey and reapect them. ***What can help us to get along well with our parents?*** We should try to change the way we view them. *Should we consider our parents as prison guards or life guards?* ***Prison guards were trained to get a close watch to the prisoners because they dont really trust them.*** They keep them confined with many restrictions. And they dictate what prisoners should do like when to get up, when and what to eat and tells them what to do and when to do things. It's really hard when someone is keeping an eye on everything you do, it's frustrating because you do not know what and how to act properly. Same with parents, we may sometimes view them like prison guards because we feel like their keeping us from doing what we want and it seems like they are watching all our moves. This happens when we are seeking for more freedom and independence. But what of we view our parents as ***life guards***? Just like prison guards they are also trained to watch over people but they have a different purpose. ***Their purpose is to keep people safe especially the swimmers****.* They are trained to look after the swimmers and keep them from danger. Our parents can also be likened to lifeguards who guards and warns us against the dangers we are not even aware of. When we view our parents in a positive way, it will help us to see that what they are doing are all for our sake and it will help us to give them more respect. We can do what the bible passage says "*honor your father and your mother".* P.S. This is something I learned from a virtual convention I've attended yesterday. I'm inspired by it and thought of sharing it with you all. What can you say about this? Comment it down below 😊

Sunsets I'm feeling too lazy to write today so I'll just share some photographs. I've always been fascinated with the sky - the millions of stars in the night sky, the full moon, the sunrise but I love **sunsets** the most. Sunsets gives me feeling of hope. Hope that the next day will be better than today. While browsing my gallery this afternoon, I saw these pictures which made me feel nostalgic. After a tiring day of volunteering to teach deaf people who lives in the coastal areas, it's relaxing to watch the sunset. The ocean waves sounds like music to my ears. Another sunset photograph with me as the model. I'm not so good when it comes to striking a pose tho 😅 Because of the pandemic we can't go to the beach. But I still enjoy this awe-inspiring wonder just behind our house 🧡 TRIVIA: A person who loves sunset is called "opacarophile". It is taken from the Latin word 'opacare' which means sunset and Greek word 'phile' which means love.

Happiness depends on our outlook in life. Think positive and be happy! Good day friends. May you have a wonderful day full of positivity. 💕

Just a survey. Do you guys read long articles here? Or you just scan through them and leave comments based on it's title? I'm really curious because someone wrote and said that he doesn't read long articles. I'm quite disappointed with that because I'm sure that authors are putting in a lot of effort to think and write good contents but in the end it is ignored.

Hands that Talk It's been two years since I started learning sign language and volunteered to teach deaf and mute people. I've learned so much since then. Communicating with deaf people taught me not only how to speak using my hands, I learned how they think, how they convey ideas and basically I had an in-dept understanding of their 'culture' as well. Normal people learns a language through listening to people around them, along with this listening and speaking enables us to communicate and convey our ideas clearly. But this is imposible for the deaf and mute. So they developed a unique way of communicating by using their hands to 'talk'. Learning sign language has been a challenge for me at first because as people who can perfectly hear, we we're taught with correct grammar and the other language rules. A sentence that seems to have the right grammar for us may not be understandable for them. I struggled a lot with changing the order of words and verbs so that I can convey my thoughts clearly. Complex sentences doesn't work for them. The simpler the sentence, the clearer it is. Example instead of saying "***Hello. How are you feeling today?***" It is easier to understand if you say "***Hello***" "***You now how"***. With that they'll probably answer "*Fine*" or "*Good*". Deaf people are very frank or direct to the point. They usually uses the 'Love Sign' which is like this 🤟 to say that they like someone as a person. If you say something offending they'll instantly tell you you're 'bad'. Most of them are also very sensitive. They easily get hurt so constant socializing with them helped me to be more vigilant with what I'm saying or signing, rather. Another way to clearly express our thoughts for them to understand is through our facial expression. I remember that two years ago, I'm always wearing a poker face. But a student taught me to make the most out of my facial expressions and emotions. The uglier your face gets, the more they can understand you easily. Most people have the wrong perception that deaf are dummies and they don't know anything where in fact the only disability they have is being unable to hear. Most of the deaf people I've met are very talented when it comes to arts and their ability to focus in doing a task is just amazing and they are very industrious too. Not all of us gets in contact with a deaf and mute person everyday. You may want to learn the basic so you can talk to them using your hands if ever you meet one - learn the alphabets. If you don't know how to sign a specific word just spell it to them. If ever you meet a deaf and mute in the future you may want to initiate a conversation. Deafs appreciates it a lot when we try our best to communicate with them. Please like, comment & consider subscribing 💕
