Cold days are here again. The chilling cool breeze of the wind makes you pull up your blanket and wrap it around your trembling body. No wonder this cold day will make you a little lazy than usual. For some of you might want to stay heated up in your bed and take another round of sleep.
Here in my locality people are posting edited photos and make some jokes about the weather. Filipinos are just making fun of the current situation. Well, it's more fun in the Philippines, right?
Here are some of the pictures I saw from Facebook that made my day.
This coldness is widespread, I know you can feel it too. However, our time is only limited, one or two hours of slacking off for me is enough and staying longer in bed isn't necessary.
Will you let the weather makes you inactive? There's no need for a longer break when the freezing air starts to blow. It's just the same day with a different climate, isn't it?
Despite the cold weather, you should keep going, keep your body moving and be productive.
Don't hibernate and let it stop you from doing your works. The activities I'll be discussing are not related to the winter season, as these are just based on my thoughts and experiences and we don't or never have snow in our place. Here are some activities you can do to stay active during this cold time.
Get up and walk.
Walking is one of the easiest things to do during this time. You don't have to stay crouched on that fluffy couch. Get up and take a walk. Walking is one of the best exercises too, you don't have to gear up unless the weather is too cold to bear. Walking outside your house, stroll around your lawn, or take a glimpse in the garden if you have. When the rain stopped, I excitedly get out of the door and find some puddles. Not to play with it, but to capture the beauty it reflects, the sky reflection. Though the wind blows so cold, I keep my mind active and look around me. It's very fine weather and the coldness compliments well with it. Approximately, I stayed outside for about 1 hour or more, just to wander and stroll around.
Stretch that stiff body.
While it's good to go to bed in this kind of weather, it's best to remain active. Cold weather causes muscles to lose more heat and contract, causing tightness throughout the body. Stretch your stiff muscles but in a proper way. Do some little stretching and shake off that sluggish feeling in you.
Take something hot.
Wouldn't be nice to get a sip of a hot soup during this bedtime weather? Don't be lousy go get yourself a hot. coffee, hot tea, or a savory soup to replenish your freezing body. During this kind of climate, I love to take my hot cup of coffee. Also to sip some hot soup to re-energize me to keep and stay active throughout the day. Eating something spicy could help too, well that's only for me though. I love to savor hot and spicy stew to make myself sweat a little.
Do some household chores.
That's so normal, however, keeping the house during this time is significant. As everyone in the house is a little sluggish, it could be a little messy too. To keep the warmth inside your home, it must be clean and well-organized. Doing some chores like simple sweeping of the floor, folding the unfolded clothes, washing the soiled dishes will keep you active even just for some time. For me, it's also the best time to rearrange. and reorganize some of the things inside the house.
Keep hydrated.
Despite the cold weather, you need to keep yourself hydrated. Dehydration is possible even on long cold days. You'll notice that you couldn't sense any thirst because all you can feel is coldness from the outside. Always remember that dehydration could affect your mood and mental state too. So, don't forget to drink your daily dose of fluid.
Keep your hygiene, take a bath.
Have you taken a bath while reading this? I saw some people on social media posted about not taking a shower due to the chills the water plus the cold wind could give them. But there's no reason for you to skip bath time during the day. Yes, probably the water is too cold to endure during this period however you can always make it warm. Do not take a shower in a hot water, it should be warm. Well for me, I always have a cold shower despite the coldness of the day. Maybe it's just a mind over matter. I can't take it to smell stinky throughout the day, also I love it. the feeling after a shower makes me feel refreshed and replenished. It also sets me and be ready to face my daily tasks with comfort and hygienic feeling.
Browse some books.
Who says reading is boring? While some curled up to their beds, why not examine some interesting books to read. Scan some topics that are new to you or topics that best suit your interests. I also love to read some, from our old encyclopedias and to pocketbooks. I want to explore things and gain some learning while reading. I believe that this cold day is perfect for looking over some pages in a book. Reading can make your brain cells active too, so grab a book or magazines to keep your mind active.
No wonder that this cold weather could stop us from moving. Many tasks could be left unfinished inside or outside the house. But, always remember that cold days are very common, just like any ordinary day you had. The only thing is, it's frostier than the others. What I've cited above are just my few lists of staying active while handling myself with the weather. But I know there are still numerous ways to keep your body active during these times. Don't let this bedtime weather stops you from being enthusiastic and active for days. Just like what I've said, it's just a mind over matter.
Just because it’s cold outside doesn’t mean you can’t get out, keep moving and enjoy your day. Don't let it stop you and beat that cold!
Bakit nga ba iba Ang lamig ngayon jusme haha.
