Origin of the name 'Pabna' from 'Padumba'. Over time, Padumbai went to Pabna to preserve the harmony or from the etymological origin. The first visit to Padumba was during the reign of Pala king Rampal in the 11th century AD. Archaeological Cunningham speculates that the name Pabna may have originated from the ancient kingdom of Pundra or Pundravardhana. However, there is another rumor that the area was named Pabna after the confluence of a tributary of the river Pabni, but this idea is now baseless because there was no river named Pabni in Pabna at any time.
