Neymar Finished at 4th Behind Messi, Ronaldo and Iniesta for the IFFHS World’s Best Player of the Decade Honor

By Steve Zavala - 8 February 2021, 21:20

Last week, the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) revealed its final ranking for the CONMEBOL player of the decade for 2011-2020. Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar did not claim the honor, but he finished at second behind former FC Barcelona teammate Lionel Messi in the final ranking.

Now, the IFFHS has finally announced its long-awaited ranking for the World’s Best Man Player of the Decade 2011-2020. As many would likely agree, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo claimed the top two spots thanks to their grand success in both club and country competitions.

The last decade was also filled with a plethora of other world-class talents that made strong cases to be among the top five players in the world. But for IFFHS, the organization elected to go with now-former FC Barcelona star Andres Iniesta at third followed by Neymar at fourth and Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos at fifth.

Iniesta added a multitude of trophies to his cabinet over the decade along with several individual honors, such as being named to multiple UEFA Team of the Year and FIFA FIFPro World 11 squads.

Neymar also had his fair share of team trophy wins and top individual honors. But in the end, Iniesta is well-deserving of being placed above Neymar in this ranking.
