Summer in the Philippines is normally starting from March to May. It is when the summer vacation happens where students gets really excited because after 10 months of studying they can have a break.
As we are all aware, the Coronavirus desease started in December 2019 in China and was brought worldwide and was announced as pandemic early 2020.
I can still remember that in February, we are supposed to go to Manila to attend an awards night in the company. Bus trips and hotels are already booked until it needs to be cancelled because we need to call off the awards night for our safety.
March 17 was the day that our government had announced that there will be a lockdown and public transportation was put on halt. We all thought that it will just be a month but the government needed to extend and extend it until it is a little bit safe. So we kindly of missed the summer vacation. No one was able to go to the beach or go somewhere else for a vacation.
Me and and officemates friends are supposed to have a summer outing that happens every year aroung late March or early April. That didn't happen this year. It's already October and the pandemic was a little bit settled(I think since it's more manageable now compared to before.). We decided to go on a weekend getaway. We planned to go to Aguirangan Island here in Camarines Sur.
I have been there once when I was in college and that was quite a long time ago already. Haha. The video below was a video taken on our way to the island. We were quite astonished since we haven't seen the island for a long time.
We rented a tricycle by the way and I will be sharing with you our adventure with it. It was a very long ride. 45 minutes to 1 hour but it is worth it because of the beauty of the island. We had struggles with the commute because of the up and down slopes. So here are the pictures.
We departed our house at around 3:30pm and arrived at Maangas around 4:30 pm. It rained heavily but good thing is we are already at our destination when we arrived there. We had a lot of talks and stories to tell each other since its been a long time that we haven't gone out. We set up our tent since we planned to camp there in the evening and go to the island next thing in the morning. But it rained really hard in the evening and we were not able to sleep well in the tent. So most of us just stayed up all night.
In the morning, I woke up early and prepared our breakfast. Before preparing our breakfast I walked on the shore and got this beautiful scenery. It is very relaxing in the place. I was at peace by just listening the waves rushing on the seashores.
On this video you can also see a glimpse of the Mayon Volcano where Bicol is known for since Mayon Volcano was considered the best volcano in the whole world having a perfect cone.
This video is taken when we are already in Aguirangan Island. There's not much to do there but you can rent a volleyball and play for 1 hour. Then theres kayaking and swimming. You can roam around the island since its just a small island.
The view of the island is really beautiful. Though there are already lots of people going there despite of the still on going pandemic. I think this is just one way to escape the current reality that we are all facing now.
The journey was tiring and the weather is unpredictable. But the destination is amazing and wonderful. It was all worth it. Most of all, being with friends and family during those happy moments are the best.
Hopefully, next year's summer will be different to this years summer.
