This report highlights the impact of alcohol use on family violence services during the pandemic.

This report is published by the Foundation for Alcohol Research and Education (FARE).

This report presents insights from family violence workers in New South Wales on the role and impact of alcohol use on their services during the pandemic. Among its findings, the report highlights:

  • 47% of respondents reported an increase in their case load since COVID-19 restrictions began

  • 56% of respondents reported that increased case loads were due to demand from new clients

  • 51% reported an increase in the involvement of alcohol in family violence situations since the COVID-19 restrictions were introduced.
