Smallwood Farms Harvest Host
The Start of the Trip East to the Sugarbeet Harvest
We had decided early in our decision that we were going to try and be purposeful in our RV journey. The virus outbreak kind of put a damper on that, as options became very limited, but we continued with our commitment we made in January to try this sugar beet harvest. If they were going to continue, our reasoning went, then we’ll be there. Besides, it’s near a bunch of relatives we haven’t seen in over 40 years, and it would be fun to re-connect if timing were on our side.
Our plan was to do this trip over the span of about a month, to give us plenty of time to experience the sights along the way (of which there were many), and to travel via Highway 2, instead of I-5. We’d never been hwy 2 heading east for this long of a trip before, and were very excited about this idea. We set out late August for an arrival in Ada, MN around 9/28. On day one, after traveling through North Cascades NP, we set our travel goals that day on a harvest host called Smallwood Farms in Okanogan. We had a great stay there.
