The last battle for freedom in Nigeria
Since the amalgamation of the northern and southern protectorate, the country known as Nigeria has never been itself. It has suffered many problems and experienced a lot of challenges in the quest to truly become free. This freedom yearned for is not the one sought out for from the colonial masters, but the freedom that truly liberate people from bad leadership, insecurity, financial difficulty/hardship and unemployment.
The Country is so blessed with natural resources and its citizens cannot understand why they are still poor. Just imagine living at a bank of a river and still washing your hands with spittle or better still, having your room filled to the brim with money yet you can't seem to have access to it simply because you got the key misplaced.
Since the creation of the country, Nigerians seemed to have misplaced their key to financial freedom, security and good governance. I see Nigeria as nations in a nation endowed with so much potentials meant to bring about the needed change required for their freedom but there is a limitation that is holding them back which I find to be lurking within the government. I've lived in Nigeria for a long time to truly understand why they are so poor with so much handed to them by nature.
Bad Leadership
This is the mother of all problems facing the country. There is a mismanagement of funds that are meant to build structures that would curb the problem of unemployment in the country. A lot of youths are on the street languishing in poverty with no Job. These are very hardworking people with lots of talents. I find that Nigerians are very talented people, but bad governance seems to be placing a limitation on them. Youths can't seem to have access to funds to start up a business and there are not enough jobs for those seeking employment. Recently, large funds were discovered and found to be stashed in the ceiling of what seem to be an abandoned house and it was found to be one of the houses of a politician and guess what, the money had all turned to dust right there in the ceiling. The money had stayed there for a long time and were even forgotten before they were discovered. These monies where meant for meaningful development to set the people of the country free financially, but these people keep holding the country at ransom.
The rise of insecurity in the country is as a result of unemployment which is largely due to bad leadership. A lot of youths in Nigeria are going to bed hungry and the criminal minded ones would want to take up fire arms to kidnap people for money or join a group of bandit to rob people and if nothing is done about this, Nigeria may become one of the most unsafe place to live in the world.
The final fight
There is still hope for Nigeria as its citizens are making all effort to elect a credible government in the forth coming election. The current government seem to be oblivious about the happenings in the country and the increasing rate of poverty and insecurity threatening the nation. The youths of the country are all coming out with one mind and one voice to vote in the government of their choice, tested and proven to be trustworthy that would lead them to the promised land.
This is the first time in history that youths of almost all tribe in the country are determined to do the right thing and vote into power a credible government. I have seen how a lot of people are making preparations to get their permanent voter's card and the belief that their vote would count.
In conclusion, if Nigeria does not get it right this time by voting in credible leaders, proven to have demonstrated good governance in the past, Nigeria may be heading towards a state of Anarchy.
