British Indian Professional Playwright, Poetry, Indian Citizenship, British Indian Time, Bengali Renaissance Drama, Poetry Notable Essays

One of the best narrators of Bengali drama of the nineteenth century. Deenbandhu Mitra, a contemporary of Michael Madhusudan Dutt, the pioneer of modern Bengali drama, however, did not follow the path of mythological or historical drama written by Michael but concentrated on realistic social drama. In this genre, he became the role model of later playwrights.

Deenbandhu Mitra's first published play Nildarpan was published in 160 AD. His second play, Nabin Tapasbini, was published in 183 AD. Deenbandhu's two best comedies are "Sadhbar Ekadashi" and "Biye Pagla Buro". In 182, another of his farces, Jamai Barik, was published. His latest play Kamale Kamini was published in 183 AD. Apart from plays, Deenbandhu also wrote two books of poetry - Twelve Poems (182) and Surdhuni Kavya (Part I - 161 and Part II - 18). He is known to almost all Bengalis. He is Deenbandhu. He is one of my favorite poets
