04/8Aamir Khan in Dangal
Imagine having to put on kilos and then having to burn all of the excess within a timespan of a few months. Aamir Khan, known to be a perfectionist in his trade did the same. For his role in the movie Dangal, where he is seen as a wrestler at different ages, Aamir was given the option of wearing a bodysuit but he wanted the transformation to be fully natural. He first put on 25 kilos and developed a paunch and then, lost it in five months time. In a behind-the-scenes video from the film, Aamir spoke at length recounting the different struggles he went through:
"Putting on the weight was fun as I could eat and drink whatever I wanted. I had a ball, I have to say but it was uncomfortable. My wrestling training was affected because I was carrying so much weight and I couldn't move fast. You know, your breathing changes when you put on weight. Your whole body language changes, the way you walk, the way you sit, the way you try to stand up"
While Aamir's transformation is super impressive, he did caution fans to not try such a risky step. A staunch supporter of making dietary tweaks, Aamir also said that without changing his diet, he wouldn't have been able to go through the physical transformation.
05/8Kriti Sanon for Mimi
Actress Kriti Sanon has a naturally lean and slim body type but for her newest role, where she will be seen playing a surrogate mother, the actress had to put 15 kilograms. Kriti decided to do this all by herself, even if that meant challenging her metabolism and endurance levels. The role and the prep were physically and mentally exhausting for Kriti but like a true player, she did it all by herself in a short period of time. In an interview, Kriti also spoke of the challenges she faced:
"For me, putting on so many kilos is actually a challenge as it's very new for my body. I have to in a way fight my metabolism and increase my calorie intake to gain that much weight in a short time."
06/8Kriti went on to lose 15 kilos during the lockdown
During the challenging transformation, there was a time Kriti had to force herself to eat food, even if she didn't want to.
"Since I have a high metabolism, I knew this was going to be a task for me. I knew I had to increase my appetite and calorie intake, so I completely stopped working out, even yoga! I used to have poori-halwa-chana as breakfast and sweets after every meal. Though I enjoyed initially, later I had to force myself to eat as I had lost interest in food. In fact, when I used to not feel hungry, I used to eat a cheese slice,"
And then, like a champ, she shed around 15 kilos of excess weight by following a proper diet and workout regime during the lockdown. Goals or what?
