Oh no. Captain or not, I wouldn't dare.
I don't think anyone does who has a choice ... the worst part is, they are never a pretty blue like this. I've seen this size come to shore ... that brown CLEARLY says, "Don't come in here." In documentaries, they are gray to black. I just couldn't bring myself to make them that color...
I would sit down and pray. I used to have a needlepoint that said Dear Lord be kind to me, the sea is so big and my boat is so small.
That is what I would do too, because, AT THIS POINT, the Lord would just be making decisions about whether I was going to live or die. The biggest ships we have, assuming these waves to be about the biggest size I've heard of as possible, would be a small boat by comparison ...
We were coming in an inlet south of us and the engine died just as a rouge wave hit. I was in the stern of the boat, my husband driving in front and I was looking down at him. My Son was sitting next to me and I told him that we just lost our boat. My husband said he was trying to decide if he wanted the boat to roll sideways or end over end. He chooses sideways and it was like God's hand had hold of the bottom of the boat and slid it over out of harm's way, we were in a calm spot. I shook for 45 minutes.
Ain't God good, though! That's all we can really say in a case like that!
There is no doubt in my mind, I have never had a boat slide sideways across the water. especially when it had the stern sticking up in the air. My husband even said he was trying to roll it sideways. I get goosebumps just talking about it.
I understand ... God is AWEsome, in the true sense of the word. He is saving us EVERY DAY out here, and the more we realize it, the more we stand in awe...
