What's buzzing, friends?

Welcome to Sunday's recap of the latest and greatest posts from DBuzz! Before we dive in, let's kick things off with a fun fact about how far communication has come.

In our modern world, we take for granted the ability to communicate with anyone, almost anywhere in the world, in just a matter of seconds. Telecommunications have empowered the world to connect and talk faster than ever before. However, back in 1858, this was not the case.

That year, the first transatlantic telegraph cable was laid, opening up the possibility for the distant ends of the Earth to communicate back and forth. So what was one of the first messages sent? It was an 18-hour message from Queen Victoria to US President James Buchanan, transmitted across the transatlantic cable. Source HERE.

The length of time wasn't due to the wordiness of the conversation, but to the fact that it took an average of two minutes and five seconds to transmit a single character! So the next time you send a quick text to a friend on the other side of the world, take a look at your letters and marvel at how much faster communication has become.

This week, we had exciting news about DBuzz and Hive partnering with MAD Project & DDC for FrolicBlock 2023. Our co-founders @nathansenn and @chrisrice will be resource speakers and Hive representatives, spreading awareness on the advantages of being on Web3. But that's not all! We also got to know DBuzz and Hive blogger @philnews.xyz who shared his dedication to travel, documenting everything from Bantayan Island to Davao City. We also shared a reminder of our constant schedule of DBuzz Podcasts, Newbie Orientation Schedules, and recent updates made to our interface that may interest our regular DBuzz users.

This week, our Zap fiction writing challenge from DBuzz is all about exploring the past! We ask our participants to write a story about a person who discovers an old diary that belongs to their long-lost relative and learn the secrets of their family's past. Let your imagination run wild and take a deep dive into your family's mysterious history.
