D.Buzz will be Implementing the Hive Authentication Services (HAS).
Hello Friends of D.Buzz.
Online safety is a major concern for almost everyone these days, especially after some of the major hacks that have happened to websites in the past. One of these hacks was the Equifax hacking, which was a major security breach. If you're not familiar with this, it's basically where the hackers stole over 145 million social security numbers from the Equifax website. Apparently, the one thing that helped these hackers get access to the information was that Equifax had an encryption key that was about 10 years out of date Source.
Further, have you ever thought about if it's safe to send passwords over the internet? If you're anything like us, you probably have. But have you ever been to a website where you have to sign in using a private password to make use of that website? This is a very common practice to use services for HIVE, in fact, D.Buzz does this currently, but what if there was a better way.
Good news, there is.
@arcange, is a long- time developer of HIVE applications. They have produced a lot of fantastic tools and features for the community, such as HiveBuzz, HiveSQL, Engage, Hive.NET, Hive Recovery and Hive Autoclaim. Their latest tool is the Hive Authentication Services (HAS) and it is great!
Hive Authentication Services (HAS) What is it?
In a nutshell, HAS is a way to share your private encryption keys with an HIVE application. This cuts out the need for a developer to store your private keys, or for your browser to keep your private keys on it.
It’s also a way to streamline your logging into a HIVE application by means of only providing your username to that application, and not needing to worry about entering any private keys or other passwords.
This enhances your overall security online by reducing the number of attack vectors hackers can take, to gain access to your private keys, and reduces potential vulnerabilities that could leave you exposed.
How does it work?
The process is really simple. When a user goes to an application they want to log into, they only need to enter their Hive username.
HAS will then send a message to your HIVE wallet of choice. After you approve the transaction, an encrypted tunnel will open up between the application and HAS. Through this tunnel, your keys will be shared with the application, enabling the application to broadcast to the blockchain for you.
A lot of people may not realize that it is such a huge benefit. It really is a fantastic tool and feature that we are super excited about bringing to D.buzz, in the very near future.
If you wish to read more about the HAS service, we recommend you check out the post Hive Authentication Services - Announcement and Proposal, or if you want to get very technical, you can read through their white papers located docs.hiveauth.com.
If all goes well, we aim to have HAS online in the next week.

In conclusion
Looking at the key issue of online security in this way changes the way that people can approach online data and internet protection. Instead of relying on each developer to develop complex encryption to keep your private keys safe, HAS allows developers to focus on making great applications without worrying too much about encrypting user keys, while enhancing the ability of users to guard their data online more efficiently, and increasing the overall user experience.
What are your thoughts?
Have you heard of HAS before?

I recently started using this 2FA authentication service and I'm impressed by how effortlessly it elevates my security measures. The setup process was straightforward, and now I feel more confident knowing that my accounts are fortified against unauthorized access. The service's compatibility with popular cloud MFA and platforms ensures I can secure all my important accounts. With the rising cases of cyberattacks, having this extra layer of protection is a proactive step that I highly recommend.
