Ceramic Login on Track, Next Tuesday Planned Testnet Launch

Hello, D.Buzz development enthusiasts!

One of the things that takes time during development is the addition of new features. As developers, we want to make sure that any new features we add are done well and don’t cause any problems with the existing codebase. This takes time to think about and test properly, but it’s worth it in the end to have a stable and efficient codebase.

This week the development team was, and is still focused on the integration of the Ceramic login system. This will be the first part of making D.Buzz Lite, then once that is working well, we will work on incorporating the $BUZZ token into D.Buzz, enabling users to earn $BUZZ from their posts.

At that point, a lot of very exciting options will start to open up. One such feature we are looking at, is the ability to buy a HIVE account, by selling $BUZZ tokens. This way, a new user will come to D.Buzz lite, earn $BUZZ, then when they have the $3 needed, they can sell that $BUZZ into $HIVE, and the $HIVE is used to get a full Hive account. Then the new users have access to all of the HIVE services, and can start to earn $HIVE as well. #GameChanger

About D.Buzz Lite posts.

They will not be posted to HIVE. A user who has a Lite account, will be posting to our Decentralized Database. If the user has a Hive account linked, then they can post to hive as well. In this way, users have more control over their posts, and where the posts go, and who and how these posts can be seen.

Currently the initial Next.D.Buzz testnet roll-out is set for next Tuesday. Keep in mind that whenever there is a bug that is discovered in the software, it can push back the launch date. This is because the developers need to fix the bug and then test the software again to make sure that it is working properly. However, as of today we are on track (*if not slightly ahead) for a Next Tuesday Next.D.Buzz launch, then a week or 2 later on the main website.

Is there anything you need to do?

Answer is no. If you log in with the Hive Keychain or with HAS, or with a posting key, you can do all of that, and D.Buzz will operate the same. You will just have one more option for logging in, that would be with Ceramic // Metamask.

Other Updates

Some of the remaining bugs with the HAS integration are still outstanding as the developer working on it, has been out with a family emergency for the last week. While this is pushing back the fixing of several outstanding issues with HAS and the login screen on mobile, we honor our developers and understand that bad things happen, and sometimes you just need to take care of that. We are planning for them to return this week and get back to addressing these issues. But for now, we ask for your patience as we work through this.
