Bi-weekly Development Updates for D.Buzz - Today: Blacklists and More

Hello, fans and friends of D.Buzz!

First used in 1639 by Philip Massinger (an English dramatist), in the tragedy entitled "The Unnatural Combat", the phrase "Black List" has been adopted by modern society.

Today in our ongoing efforts to allow the users of D.Buzz to select what content they wish to see and NOT see, while upholding the ideals and fundamental values of freedom of speech, we have integrated the Decentralized Blacklist / Mutelist system that @blocktrades created.

While this feature is not as fancy as, lets say, tick-tock video embedding (#ComingSoon), the ability to select and use the decentralized blacklist that you wish, does hold a very important role on our platform.

Decentralized Black Lists

Anyone visiting the D.Buzz front-end can now create a list of people that from their perspective, harm the community (i.e. create blacklists of reward farmers, phishers, plagiarizers, etc.), and it has the added function of being sharable with other users.

This gives D.Buzz users the ability to help moderate content, since anyone can create a blacklist, and if they do a good job, it'll be used by other users to shift and self-correct the attention economy on D.Buzz toward high-quality content.

  • Less attention spent on rewarding farmers & plagiarizers decreases their incentives to continue those activities.

That's the power of decentralized blacklists.

Decentralized Mutelists

In addition to creating blacklists, there might be users on D.Buzz or Hive whose content you don't want to see.

If they don't harm the community, it would be inappropriate to place them on blacklists, but it is 100% okay to mute their posts, and/or username, to prevent their content from showing up in your feed.

Once a mute list is created, you can share it with like-minded people who might benefit from the work you did compile.
