Good morning!!!
Start my day with a cup of coffee and a bunch of bread. It is a cold morning here in Capiz. I am wearing a jacket while having my breakfast.
I was thinking of what to write in my next article. Its been two days since I wrote one. I still have a Christmas hangover, and I am mentally blocked.
Yesterday, I had my longest siesta ever. It was the first time for me to had a 3 hours of siesta since a became a wife and a mom, and it feels great. It felt like I was fully charged and ready for my duties, hahaha!
And now, it is raining again. I hope it will stop because we were using solar energy as means of electricity. We've been using it for over 3 years now. So we never had blackouts and we don't have to pay for electric bills.
I'll give you a quick fact about solar power.
What is solar power?
Solar power is usable energy generated from the sun in the form electric and thermal energy. This is best in our country because we live in a tropic country, meaning the sun is always shining upon us, lol!
Solar energy is captured in a variety of ways, the most common of which is with photovoltaic solar panels that convert the sun's rays into usable electricity. Aside from usinh photovoltaic to generate electricity, solar energy is commonly used in thermal applications to heat indoor spaces or fluids.
How does solar energy works?
A solar panel also known as solar module consists of a layer of silicon cells, a metal frame, a glass of casing unit, and a wiring to transfer electric current from silicon.
Silicon(atomic #14 in the periodic table) is a nonmetal with conductive properties that allow it to absorb and convert sunlight into usable electricity. When light hits a silicon cell, the light causes electrons in the silicon to be set in motion, initiating a flow of electric current. This is known as the "photovoltaic effect, " and it describes the general functionality of solar panel tech.
The photovoltaic process works through the following broad steps:
The silicon photovoltaic solar cell absorbs solar radiation
When the sun's rays interact with the silicon cell, electrons begin to move, creating a flow of electric current
Wires capture and feed this direct (DC) electricity to a solar inverter to be converted to alternating current (AC) electricity.
A brief history of a solar power
In 1954, Bell Labs developed the first silicon photovoltaic cell. Although solar energy had previously been captured and converted into usable energy through various methods, only after 1954 did solar power begin to become a viable source of electricity to power devices over extended periods of time.
The first solar cells converted solar radiation to electricity at an efficiency of 4 percent-for reference, many widely available solar panels today can convert sunlight to solar power at above 20 percent efficiency, a number constantly on the rise.

If you will asks me why we choose solar power as our main source of electricity, it is because,
Eliminate electric bills. With the current situation in our country that electric bills were so unpredictable, i'd prefer solar power. I remember my mother's electric bills, before the pandemic, their bills were P1, 500 but when lockdown was implimented, their bills went up to P34, 000 a month. I mean, like what? How did the electric company came up with that amount?
Protect the environment. This is a renewable source of energy, so it can really help to protect the environment.
You can save money by not having to pay electric bills every month.
Although solar power or energy is a bit pricey at first, you can have great returns after by not paying electric bills, and the conveniency of not having blackouts is the best. We spend like 150,000 for our solar panels. There is so much to learn about solar energy, i just gave you a quick fact about it. I hope you like how i presented the idea.
Honestly, I don't know how I came up with this topic, but as I was freewriting about my breakfast, a sudden flow of ideas came to my mind so I ended up writing them, hahahaha!
