36 years ago, November 5, 1984 when typhoon "Undang" brought widespread damage in Panay island more in particular in the province of Capiz.
According to data, 265 died in the province of Capiz and 110 of them were from Roxas City, and property damage amounted $25 million (1984 USD). 80% of the houses were damaged.
At that time, I think my family were still in Davao. We were originally from Davao and transfer in Manila due to some reasons. And then,when I started a family, my husband and I decided to settle down here in Capiz. So technically, I was not in Capiz when Bagyong Undang struck, but just imagine the many lives lost at that time and property damages, You can feel how devastating it was.
