One of the most popular Ethereum software wallets called MyEtherWallet followed the general trend and provided users with access to Ethereum 2.0 staking capabilities.
Thanks to a partnership with the Staked node hosting service, MyEtherWallet now offers browser and mobile wallet users the ability to deposit ETH coins into the Ethereum 2.0 Beacon Chain deposit contract.
“MyEtherWallet users must have 32 ETH to participate in staking. Staked will launch a validator node for them, making it easier for non-technical users to participate. In fact, no additional user action is required, ”said MyEtherWallet CEO Kosala Hemachandra.
Staking ETH requires a node to be created, so Staked hosts this node and provides users with software to manage their deposits in MyEtherWallet. It is reported that users retain control over their keys, while using the staking service through exchanges gives the latter full control over the funds.
Staking participants will become validators, that is, they will process transactions and thus replace miners. MyEtherWallet users will receive a validator reward in ETH, but this reward cannot be withdrawn at least after the start of "phase 2" (about two years).
MyEtherWallet was the first Ethereum wallet to offer users staking options.
