An Unexpected Sleep Over

So it was my mother in law's birthday and her children gathered in her house to celebrate. If I'm not mistaken, she just turned 67 and living a good life.

They went to bathe in a river this morning and I was not able to come because of work. My heart ached of missing fun but I had to endure knowing that there are more outings I would be able to join.

My kids missed their cousins and caught up with each other by playing, swimming, jumping and having lots of fun together. So I went home from work and took my kids home saying to my youngest daughter we will just come back after dinner and she did ask of it and cried when she thought her father won't go.

To make her stop, I decided we do a sleep over and as I washed the dishes, I asked my husband to prepare the things we had to carry and took a mountain climbing bag and stuffed bedsheets and blankets and mosquito net on it. After ten years of being together, he finally know that I just can't sleep without one and I hate mosquitoes feeding on me and causing even more serious problems like dengue and a week long quarrel and silent treatment from me.

The bedroom and the living room were all taken so we pitched a tent in the kitchen. With me are my kids and one hubby's niece because hubby was at work. Good thing my sister in law had a tent and we just spread the bedsheet inside and it got comfy. The kitchen was renovated few weeks ago and was not yet finished since it was only my father in law who is working on it.

The kids and I went to sleep at 10pm and a few minutes after we all dozed off and then by 12mn;

I woke up because I was bitten by a mosquito and found out there were two. I could not get back to sleep and went through my phone and heard buzzing and found out several more mosquitoes full with blood on their stomachs and so I searched and ripped them off the face of the earth. My hands were bloody and I hated them even more for sneaking inside our tent and consumed out blood.

And it made me wonder how my in-laws are able to sleep without mosquito nets on when one of them even had a two month old baby. I bet they believe their skin I impenetrable. Way back a few years ago, two of my husband's nephews got hospitalized for dengue when there was an outbreak on our area because they think putting on mosquito nets takes too much effort and time and too hot. Well I guess it's their choice.

For now I'm just waiting for sleep to come again to me so I'd be able to rest and prepare for tomorrow's events.
