Friday yey day!

Why? I don't know hahah I just wrote it to make it sound cute and rhyme lol.

Pati ba naman mag carpentry/ semento by pair na? (〒﹏〒)

I shared awhile ago that it's a bit busy day today as someone is working in the house to finish our poste and walls.

Like that, because my 4th sister wants to paint our house (Want ko rin paint-an wall namiiiin ng random art hahah sana pumayag si mama lol tsaka wala pa ko pambili paint.) and she can't do it if our wall is still rough so yeah I am in charge of overseeing the worker and his work. Of course it's my responsibility to give him foods and whatever he needs.

As he started working, his wife came too. I thought she'll just need something from him but she suddenly grabbed the shovel and start mixing the sand and cement. I was amazed, so she's helping his husband with the work. So imbes na kumuha pa daw ng labor, yung wife nya na yung assistant. Ang cuteee. Di naman nya pinapabuhat and all talagang taga abot, hawak, tas onting halo ng semento.

So ayun pati ba naman pag trabaho by pair na, naol choss hahah

How boats or big boats float?

Actually this is my main topic for today. I randomly thought last night, how do boats or even those cargo ships float even though it weighs so much. I know density has something to do with it but I can't really explain to myself so I did some research.

Don't you find it amazing how these 5 star ships have the ability to float? I heard a lot of ships have hotel, restaurant, grocery or shopping store, and a lot of places inside a single boat. It's amazing really.

So how come, despite the weight it holds, it's not sinking?

First, we have to deal with 3 words today:

Displacement - displaces the water when an object is submerged.

  • the volume or weight of a fluid (such as water) displaced (see displace) by a floating body (such as a ship) of equal weight

Density - the quantity per unit volume unit area (see area), or unit length:

Buoyancy - upward force

Two forces affect an object when it is submerged in water. Gravity is a downward force that depends on the weight of the object. Additionally, there is an upward force (buoyancy) that depends on how much water the object has moved. Depending on its density, any object will either float or sink in water (how much a certain volume of it weighs). It typically sinks if its density is greater than that of water and floats if its density is lower.

If the gravitational force is less than the buoyancy force, the object will float. In other words, if an object weighs less than the volume of water it removes, it will float.

This explains why a large boat will float while a rock sinks. Despite being heavy, the rock barely moves any water. It sinks because the small amount of water it displaces is heavier than it is. A large boat, on the other hand, will float because, despite its substantial weight, it displaces a sizable volume of water that is substantially heavier. Additionally, boats are made expressly to move enough water to ensure that they float without difficulty.

So this is why boat floats and don't sink unless otherwise some accident happen (like when unwanted water entered the boat etc.). I hope you gained something from this, thanks for being with me!
